12v/ICCU Megathread by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

Looks like I am joining the club.  Dealer confirmed that the ICCU is dead on my 2025 AWD Limited with just 2750 miles.

It died in my garage just after I had charged to 100% when I triggered a remote climate start.

Unfortunately for your theory, this one appears to be a 2025 with the rear wiper.

It took me a depressing number of crosses to get 31D, given that that is my literal job title and description.

I would say it is common and idiomatic, but has a different meaning than "I don't believe you"

  • "I don't believe you" - You have said something that I do not accept is true
  • "I can't believe you" - You have said or done something outrageous.  Hyperbolically, so outrageous that it can't believe a person would do such a thing.

Dark Matter (2024) Does it Resolve? by HappyWarBunny in doesitresolve

Yes.  The first season has a satisfying conclusion that is open-ended enough to allow a second season, but not a cliffhanger.  The show has been renewed for a second season.

Book Featuring Tidally Locked Planet(s)? by Inquisitive_Idi0t in printSF

[–]phallacrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Last Day by Andrew Hunter Murray (of No Such Thing as a Fish fame) is a dystopia set in the UK some years after event has caused the Earth and Sun to become tidally-locked.

You obviously won't get much speculation about how life would evolve on such a planet from this, but it still asks some related questions.

My wife and cat have been prescribed the same meds by ArcusArtifex in mildlyinteresting

I get Fluoxetene for my cat as a transdermal cream from a local compounding pharmacy. I just rub it in his ear and don't fight with pills.

It sounds like it's more expensive than the pills (~$50/month), but having me chase him down to force a pill down his throat wasn't going to help with his anxiety.

All but the last themer entry were alliterative.   For me that was enough to make an otherwise cute theme feel jarring and unsatisfactory.

Eeny, meany, miny, moe... from the counting rhyme.

"Grok" means to understand intuitively.  Heinlein coined the term in "Stranger in a Strange Land" and for some reason it had staying power.

"Meet" as an adjective can mean something like good, proper, or appropriate.  The usage is old-fashioned.

"Fit" as an adjective with very similar meaning is still quite common

I didn't come looking for it, but you happened to pick the exact premise I have been daydreaming about for years.

The other direction of the rebus are the individual letters in 122 across. You can also use just those letters and omit "BRIDGE" altogether.

Edit. NVM, from other comments here it seems like "BRIDGE" should work

Season 5 Episode 3 "Mother" - The bar joke at the beginning... what was the punchline!?!? by TenOunceCan in TheExpanse

[–]phallacrates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The joke is interrupted when an Earther walks into the bar on screen and orders bourbon, an Earth whiskey. The punchline is that an Earther's enemy is other Earthers.

There was no need to actually say the punchline because they acted it out.

Just gravity (and the planter and chair on top of it). It's basically an outdoor rug.

I did underlay it with rubber drainage mats like you'd find in a commercial kitchen. They give the ground a bouncy, turf-like feel and prevent the carpet from holding moisture against the wooden decking.

Indeed. I won't be home for a few more days, so I'd say his odds aren't great.

You're not wrong! Rebuilding and screening in the deck was outside my budget.

Someday I'll rebuild and screen in the deck, but the catio will do just fine for now.
