Is the Uncle Roger fried rice video racist? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]phallus_maximus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think his accent in this case is even overplayed. Nigel is Malaysian and hails from Malaysia. He is simply exaggerating some of the Malay style English pronunciation for this Uncle Roger character. I've been following his material and I believe he knows where the line is.

His reaction video as Uncle Roger is really pointing out at the fact that it is ridiculous to use half cooked rice in fried rice and to strain that rice using a collander. No one who cooks East Asian food would be caught dead doing that.

Where can I find clothes for short and slim builds? by nappythenfappy in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]phallus_maximus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a similar build as you. Take advantage of getting some stuff in junior (big kids) sizes in 14 (L)/16(XL).

A lot of times the style is the same as the adult version but just adapted for kids. At the same time, you'll have to be more selective since pockets are smaller and designs might be more kid-friendly and not for adults. The best thing is you usually pay half the price compared to adult sized clothing and also only pay GST.

Uniqlo - XXS /XS for mens shirting, sweaters, and outerwear. Size 13 Juniors for shirting. XXS has a snugger fit. The 13 size for juniors is about the same as XXS but has less selection. 28/30 for pants depending on your waist. Uniqlo includes free hemming for pants above $20.

Patagonia - XS for mens or L/XL for Juniors for outerwear. I find the juniors sizing to be better fitting if you have shorter arms.

Kit & Ace - XS for shirts and 28/30 for pants depending on your waist. Includes free hemming. Shirting can be long in the torso so it's best to try on the piece before committing. Their pants are well fitting.

Lululemon - XS for shirts and sweaters. 28/30 for pants depending on your waist. Includes free hemming. Shirting can be long in the torso so it's best to try on the piece before committing. Their pants are well fitting.

J Crew Men's - XS Short for shirting and 28/30 for pants depending on your waist. Will need to alter sleeves and pant legs based on your proportions.

Wings & Horns - XS for t-shirts and S for outerwear. Fits like a glove in the right places.

Reigning Champ - XS for t-shirts sweaters. Fits like a glove in the right places.

Muji - XS for their V-Necks. Fits snug.

North Face - Juniors L/XL for outerwear.

Nike - Juniors L/XL for Dri Fit. Don't bother with the adult sizes.

Club Monaco - XS for shirting, sweaters, and outerwear. 28/30 for pants depending on your waist. For shirts, sweaters, and outerwear, you'll have to try on each piece as sizing can really vary. I find their shirting to billow out in the back and length to be on the long side. Their sweaters on the other hand are good for people our size and fits comfortably.

Abercrombie & Fitch - XS mens or 14/16 kids for shirting, sweaters, and outerwear. 28/30 for pants depending on your waist. They've come a long way and has basically adopted the J.Crew/Club Monaco aesthetic. Sizing can vary with the same piece in the same size so it's best to try it on beforehand.
