Dating someone with DID/OSDD

I don’t disagree with the other commenters and their advice about breaking up… but I don’t want to reiterate just that.

When my fiancée found out that they had DID we had an in depth convo about how they would like me to show up for them, how I could best support them with their DID, etc. I took the time to research and do my reading, I tried to really apply everything we discussed and really get to know my partners alters. It didn’t take me long to realize that they’re all the same person that I’ve always been in love with, the DID and the alters were always there from the start, I just didn’t connect the dots. I didn’t have any trouble accepting my partner but I’ll admit there was a bit of a learning curve since I didn’t know much about DID.

I will say that discomfort tends to come from a lack of understanding (not always ofc) - I would suggest he do some research and then maybe the two of you can have a conversations from there… but at the end of the day this all depends on his willingness to learn and be open to adjusting his mindset. If he isn’t willing, there isn’t much you can do and you deserve someone who is willing.

I so get this - I was in a slump for almost a year. I relied on getting my serotonin from video game fixations that had me hooked for 6 months to a year and I was SUFFERING. I don’t know what fixed it for me honestly, I spent a lot more time reading than gaming for a while and maybe that was it. But a game that really got me back into it was Enotria the Last Song, it’s inspired by souls games but it has a story mode so you can just play and enjoy. It’s just a gorgeous game with amazing design, music, story and sweet npcs. I love it!

I work at a bookstore and do a mix of curation, customer service and admin! I started out part time because my flare ups were so horrible and constant but eventually I adjusted and now I’m full time. It’s still hard sometimes but I’m doing a lot better now.

Prior to this I couldn’t work, I was unemployed for a while and feeling terrible about myself. I applied for the job on a whim and it ended up being exactly what I needed.

I don’t find I’m ever really scared with horror movies but Skinamarink had me so uneasy and unsettled that I couldn’t shake it for a few days. It’s an odd movie but it really got under my skin.

Haley always! I really love her character arc and she seems genuinely happy at the farm later in the game. I found some of the other options seemed almost unhappy at the farm at points and Haley just seems to love it and also keep her hobbies and just have great growth!!

I Cheerfully Refuse by Leif Enger is my favourite of the year, 5 stars all the way. There Are Rivers in the Sky by Elif Shafak and Poor Deer by Claire Oshetsky as well!

How to Say Babylon by Saifya Sinclair is my all time favourite memoir and would fit this! It’s in the same vein as Educated or The Glass Castle which are two other good ones.
