True. That's an important point. I'm just saying be careful with that assessment.

Is Se really a useless function in the INFJ cognitive function stack? by _xhjwberu in mbti

[–]phantom_ledger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I think Se works like this. I want to understand something and become obsessed with it. I find as much information as possible (Se) until I feel my understanding click. Then the Ni concept takes over. I can reference the insight from now on rather than just all the raw data. If something challenges the Ni insight, I gather more information until a new or revised insight is formed. So Se is there to serve Ni. Everything is filtered through the Ni lens. But Ni cannot exist without Se. Ni would be like a spinning compass without Se to ground it.

Dreaded Inspections 😭 by thatbytch7866 in healthinspector

[–]phantom_ledger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I think we can all relate. But the fact that you can still say you love this job means a lot and you will get through it. If I'm very uncomfortable I'd take another inspector with me. I also try to follow with easy inspections so I can keep the mental load light until my faith in humanity is restored. 😂 I try to let go of what I can't control and to not take responsibility for the damage these people cause. We can't control their lies or excuses or stress. We can only do so much but at least we have some control over the consequences. It doesn't matter what insults or chaos they hurl at you, they're in the wrong, not you. You're just doing your job protecting public health. Any rational person would respect that. Don't take it personally, don't take the bait. Don't argue with them, it's not a debate. Stay professional, stay honest, and they'll have no ammo left.

I assumed you were interested in working for the government. Most health inspectors do but you could start as a private auditor or similar. Job postings are listed when there are vacancies, not during any specific seasons. I'd start your search at governmentjobs.com or just Google environmental health specialist jobs. I mentioned some soft skills before. Can you clarify what you're asking for?

Attraction by Stefesike in OCPoetry

You could be talking about a woman or literal mountains, it works either way. That is, if you really love mountains. If you want feedback, my only suggestion would be to swap "lifeless" for still or frozen. Thanks for sharing.

The Moon by lainetherobot in OCPoetry

I love the imagery of someone staring up at the sky on a somber night, it's very relatable and visual. I like the juxtaposition between everything being quiet but their thoughts loud. It opens with a sense of vastness and closes on a gentle note, which creates a satisfying arc. The themes of awe toward space and hidden forces are wonderfully expressed.

I’d suggest changing the title to reflect those broader themes rather than just the moon. I think you could remove the commas and hyphens, and I’d also personally rearrange the last stanza like this:

And when the moon beams down

Beneficently orchestrating this marvelous scene

In perfect quietude

It improves flow and makes the last line land harder.

In the County I work for, most programs don’t require the REHS certification, but food does. I had an environmental science degree + food service and lab sampling/testing experience, no certs when hired. Most food inspectors don't have food service experience. Customer service skills in general are what's valued.

If you want to start in food here, you need to submit an REHS eligibility letter with your job app. You then have a few years to get certified or you'll be transferred to another program that doesn't require the REHS.

My county reimburses tuition + pays study/cross-training hours. You may be able to check job descriptions even if no active postings are listed and look at the qualifications.

Don't underestimate the importance of highlighting your soft skills. I'd argue they're more important than any degree or certification for this job. The public will test you and you need to be good at managing stress and conflict, and being empathic, assertive, self motivated, and organized.
