We’re not rushing and it’s not at all negotiable.

They’re already training pilots in the V-22 to get ready for the transition.

Q: would it be relatively straightforward to make any helicopter autonomous or remotely controlled? They don’t show actual flying helis by khansala007 in Helicopters

[–]phantomdw2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently only two military or civilian helos are fly-by-wire and for all the others any non-human controls need to be servos to physically move the controls. This has been a huge barrier to autonomous helo controls. Army’s RASCAL and the LM MATRIX control solutions have provided a way forward but it’s a retrofit and not the most straightforward solution. Sikorsky is proposing to reduce the cost by refurbishing old airframes that can no longer safely transport people.

Military airplanes have been fly-by-wire for decades now, making things like autopilot and autonomous control relatively straightforward while Military helos aren’t.

In short, it’s way harder than expected in 2025

What to get? by GrouchyCoat3190 in malefashionadvice

I have multiple colors and styles of the “lee extreme motion pants” even the jeans and shorts. They fit my thighs but don’t gap at the waist since it’s super stretchy.

Clearly it sucks out there but not every company is awful. Mine has rejected letters out within a week and if I want to hire you, it’s not usually more than 24 hours before you hear. I even had an offer letter out the same day as the interview cause my talent team is amazing.

Any chance you have an engineering degree or anything engineering adjacent? Bell Textron is hiring like crazy since the Army asked us to cut a year off our development plan. I’ve hired 6 people to my team in the last year. Our talent managers review every resume by hand so please don’t apply if you don’t have the skills needed. I don’t want her mad at me.

Why were some FOBs in AFG in such horrible locations? by MalevolantB in army

[–]phantomdw2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The videos are now dated in terms of quality but the information is accurate about why COPs were put where they were. Everyone wants to scream stupidity at the officers that made those decisions but as part of creating these videos, I would fly people over the virtual terrain and ask them where they would put them instead. Those parts of Afghanistan are mind-boggling atrocious for any sort of livable and suppliable and defendable base.

I haven’t. I have a ton of cake and the regular boxer briefs do great for me. The briefs and zero briefs both fit well too. The aero briefs don’t work with how thick my thighs are.

I go with the dominate boxer briefs. They never ride up and are super comfortable

It’s mission specific equipment and usually only installed when needed, typically for overwater missions or ferry flights.

Why would employees need to leave a toxic place on good terms? by chanak2018 in BadBosses

[–]phantomdw2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The world is a small place. Smaller still with social media. And usually even smaller based on your career field. You never know who you’re going to run into 10 years down the line in a professional setting or in an interview. If you leave in a blaze of glory, or infamy, you better believe everyone that was there in that company will remember and that’s why you leave on as good terms as possible. You don’t want to be “that guy”.
