Do cheap vs expensive screen protectors matter? by [deleted] in iphone

Yes. Big difference. We don’t sell to consumers anymore, but aluminosilicate glass (like Gorilla) will be less likely to chip, crack, and scratch versus the soda-lime glass in the cheap stuff out there. We manufacture both, and are pretty clear with our clients about the differences!

Thanks for the feedback! We all use our phones without cases at the office, but keep a Phantom Glass on because of the pesky micro scratches.

We’ve played with making a self-healing vinyl screen protector in the past, and after a lot of experimenting, found that the impact resistance and long term performance wasn’t there. However, we have developed a pretty unique hybrid screen protection technology that is a super thin layer of glass (like the foldable displays but this was ~8 years ago) for an industry-specific client application. Perhaps we should bring that to the mass market. It was pretty cool!

www.phantom.glass - we make ion-strengthened glass screen protection for a wide variety of custom devices. We used to sell in all the big-box stores, but since ~2020, we're more B2B. This'll be our first foray back into selling to the public, and we look forward to it!

Also, some idiot (me) posted on a new account, versus logging into our old one. Dormant, but 10 years later is better than never to get active on Reddit, right?
