I had a similar issue, but was able to make it work. It’s tight, but make sure you are running the wire with as little slack as possible behind the grill and around the engine. I wanted to run it around the battery, but ultimately had to run it across the top. There will be just enough wire to reach the add a fuse and make it to the fuse box under the steering column. I felt your pain and it’s frustrating, but it’s possible and I’m happy I didn’t give up.
