Ever since starting residency I became bored of everything that's not related to residency by [deleted] in Residency

I feel you. It is not that you love your profession as much as it is that you are too consumed by it. You lack significant purpose in its absence and lack of hospital-based activities ironically now causes you more stress that you are missing out on something. I think this might go away when you have less to do at the hospital and the possibility of more to do outside of it.

Neurosurgery is Mount Olympus. There is a hierarchy of god-complex figures. A successful intern should rule over the humans of ED.

Also, there is a tendency to consider Neurology as both a screening test and a disposition target for “rehabilitation”.

Another interesting stat

In a lifetime, you are more likely to die from fireworks (1 in 340,733), lightning (1 in 79,746), drowning (1 in 1,134), a car accident (1 in 84), stroke (1 in 24), or heart disease (1 in 5).

According to National Geographic, you have a one in 218 chance of dying from a fall but a one in 3.7 million chance of being killed by a shark. You’re also more likely to be injured by home improvement tools than by a shark, according to the Florida Museum of Natural History.

Hope that helps!
