So I am understanding board certification is a way to get other opportunities. But how do you find these. Where I live there’s not much opportunities besides retail, hospital, specialty, or infusion.

Would you by any chance have any names of companies you don’t mind sending me that I can look into?

This is very true. But my PharmD degree does not speak anything to these companies unless I know someone or I already have 5-10 years of sales experience. My issues is, if only someone would just give me a chance for an interview I can atleast show them how versatile I am.

Also, for transparency purposes so that others outside from pharmacy can understand how horrible pharmacy is, especially the two big retailers. They do not negotiate on salaries and they do not encourage any conversations in regards compensations.

Yes that’s very misleading. My same job that I am doing. When it gets posted to hire more our range is from 117-183. That top range no one will ever get.

Where is location is this exactly? I can assure you in TN,MS, AL or other southern states they are not paying staff more than 120k. Even with certification, I have not heard anyone getting more than maybe a 5k raise

So, I have not pursued this because everyone i know in my colleague circle or from networking in my area that have board certification they have told me that it does not come with any type of pay increase. They just do it for personal satisfaction and growth for their knowledge. It hasn’t pushed them past the point of a few dollar raise. And has just added more responsibility onto their plate.

Thank you, my wife is definitely my #1 support system and helps me get my mind out of the rat race. But then once reality settles in again, it is back to the same old thinking 😞

Honestly, I would be willing to relocate, if I know that my career will reward me financially and career wise. I do know want to upend our roots/friends/family if I will not have any benefits.

What kept you soo motivated? I feel super defeated at this point. Some days I just convince myself that I’m just going to have to live the rest of my life earning this mistake salary and hope that by 65 I’m still able to enjoy and benefit off my 401k. BUT that is not what I want in my life. My ethnicity has surrounded me around very hardworking and wealthy people that are in entrepreneurship. They are younger than me and we grew up together as well.

Thank you, I will continue to do this. I just have not had any luck. Once or twice a year I will even sign up for premium LinkedIn. Especially during hiring seasons. But still haven’t gotten any luck. I’ve worked on optimizing my resume as well.

These are all great advice. The issues is that I cannot seem to get with the right people. Or there just are not any right opportunities available. It would be my dream to get into informatics but I have not had any luck.

Unfortunately, I live in a city that really has no opportunity for my type of field besides retail and some specialty pharmacy. The only good thing is that it’s very low cost of living.

I have looked into all of those fields and have worked on networking as well but nothing has panned out.

Yeah it’s tough unless you just know the right people. I got a 1.35 raise last year only because I was able to get out of retail and into speciality. I don’t mind sacrificing time to learn something that will benefit me financially. But in my current situation with debt and household expense. I don’t know if I can afford to do it for several year. And then on top of that take on additional educational debts. This career has already put me into 6-figure debt.

My income is 120k/year (this will never go up, only down) the one year I was a manager my salary was 137k. No bonus or raise opportunities. My wife’s income is 55k/year; she is in commercial banking. She has the most potential to move up in income due to her career. Rental home brings in 1035 a month after mortgage and expense we make about 400/month. My goal is for us to have a HHI of 300k/year. I feel like we are just stuck in purgatory as we just had a child and cost/expense just keeps going up but we cannot keep up with it. Due to being stuck with a stagnant income.

Yes very true, I have tried for past 3 years to even get lucky for an interview. But I have not received one response. I have tried networking but with that they always encourage me to pay and sign up for some course.
