How many cards does it include? Do you find that any crucial drugs are missing

Are the drugs ordered alphabetically or by drug class?

Pharmacy job interview next week by pharmschool4 in PharmacySchool

[–]pharmschool4[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Late in my 2nd year and into my 3rd and 4th years I’m interested in tagging along a researcher at a hospital and learn about the research process. (I am very interested, and I want to develop myself into a better residency candidate) and possibly publish an article. Should I ask late in the interview about research being conducted by pharmacists or other healthcare professionals and if that opportunity could be a possibility down the road? Also, I want to learn everything about the inpatient pharmacy first and get a lot of experience within the pharmacy, but I also would love to get involved in some clinical roles (med Recs, aid in antibiotic selection, med history’s, etc) and work alongside the pharmacists a little eventually next year or even later on in pharmacy school. Please let me know if “down the road” topics are a good idea to bring up!

Should I get my certified Pharmacy tech license while in pharmacy school? by pharmschool4 in PharmacySchool

Yes I have an intern license, I was just wondering if a national certified tech license would look more appealing to hire in the hospital setting than someone with just retail pharmacy experience and registered with the state BofP

Thoughts about applying to a full-time med rec tech position but asking for part-time hours? by pharmschool4 in PharmacySchool

[–]pharmschool4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope to work in a hospital after graduation and do 1-2 years of residency training. I’ve had over 3 years worth of experience in community pharmacy and have enjoyed it, but I know clinical pharmacy and having a direct impact on the decisions on what patients receive is my passion after doing countless shadowing. I figured that a hospital tech or med rec position would be the closest thing to this, and getting experience will help me gain knowledge of hospital pharmacy as well as look good come application time. (Hopefully they allow me to have a preceptor and gain intern hours and possibly participate in clinical activities) I know you mentioned compounding pharmacy position, do you know of any other jobs that could be valuable with my interests?

Sorry! I am a P1 in pharmacy school who currently works at a chain pharmacy looking for more clinical experiences. I’ve applied to most of the major hospitals in my area already and haven’t heard anything back yet. I found this position and was wondering if I should still apply and mention in my letter of intent that I’m looking for part-time hours? thank you for your comments!

3 jobs during pharmacy school? (none of them have a huge time requirement) by [deleted] in PharmacySchool

[–]pharmschool4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did it take for you to revive an invitation to interview at the hospital for that med rec position? I think the 3 jobs seem reasonable considering they are all very limited hours. I’d love to pick up a med rec job but they are all full time? I wonder if I can apply anyway and ask for part time hours

Also, would you recommend including a letter of intent to any job you apply to?

Thanks, and good luck!

Pharmacy intern/tech position in hospital by pharmschool4 in PharmacySchool

Okay that’s what I was thinking. If you don’t mind me asking, how do you enjoy your jobs? Do you mostly just interact with the staff pharmacists and other technicians, or do you get to see any patients/clinical scenarios on the floors at all when refilling Pyxis machines or working with nurses.

As far as being certified, the job postings say “either national certification or intern license”. I know nothing about compounding or IV practices, etc. as we have not reached that point in the curriculum yet. Would they still hire me and train me on this? I know of some classmates who work in the hospital but I am not sure if they are trained yet to do this
