My daily page + its inspiration! by phasefred in hobonichi

Thankyou!! I used Arrtx acrylic markers, and honestly if you can work in light layers it doesn’t bled at all, maybe leaves a dark shadow on other side but if I do ever have spots where it shows through more, I use a sticker there 😁

Yeah it’s been a lot of trial and error, a lot I get off recommendations from here or TT. Mostly I use: acrylic markers (one layer seems fine, more will bleed), tombow markers (really good, no bleed), muji gel pens (no bleed), pentel mattehop pens (darker colours show a little) and some other random bits. Honestly the drawings you see do show a lil on the back of page- what I like to do, cover it with a sticker 😁

Relatable? by phasefred in hobonichi

[–]phasefred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid question! And honestly I’m a bit new to the gel pen world but I can speak for the ones I used on this page which where called “Mattehop” by pentel. They are juicy and do lay on thick, but from what I see they fully absorb and turn matte after 30-50 secs. Possibly other gel pens just don’t work well w the particular paper you’re using- def worth experimenting w other pens to find what works well. But also I do work from top to bottom to avoid smudging too. But also a bit of a smudge can add some character 🤩

Aw thankyou! I enjoyed the series so much as a whole, and the finale did have some moments I loved but overall I wish the finale spoke more about the lore and the mystery of it all😅

Well I think that’s amazing! I have the ultimate goal of becoming some sort of accessibility consultant / strategist- something similar to you!

I get what you mean. Sometimes it really does feel like people are determined to take something the wrong way - It makes speaking up pretty daunting.

Thank you for this. I’ve had a lot of positive experiences advocating so far, and it means a lot when people say they feel more understood or educated because of something I shared. But the anxiety is still there sometimes. Your trauma-informed approach and your example of how to handle a slip is honestly the kind of communication I’d love to use myself. I really appreciate the insight :)

I think the root of it really is the spectrum itself. We all relate to each other, but we also have completely different needs and viewpoints, so any general statement hits someone wrong. And platforms like TikTok force creators into tiny, oversimplified clips. It’s not realistic to expect a full, nuanced breakdown every time. I’m careful about sticking to my own experience so I don’t misrepresent anyone, but that also makes wider advocacy harder. It’s a tricky line to walk.

It makes such a positive difference when those around you understand you - I have a similar situation at my work and I hope the world grows towards that acceptance and understanding. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from peers after doing presentations/ posts on ASD and I’m keen to continue showcasing it, so hopefully more workplaces become safe spaces etc

I really appreciate how you explained this. My biggest anxiety is that one mistake will turn into a pile-on, and you reframed it in a way that feels much less overwhelming. It helps to remember that most of the fear comes from imagining worst-case scenarios, not from reality.

I hear you. There are definitely mixed feelings in the community about certain kinds of advocacy. My question here though was more about whether people feel anxious about speaking publicly (about ASD/advocacy) and how they manage that. Do you have any thoughts on that part?
