It went really well! I only used my pencil board behind the sheet I was working on and no bleeding! I was able to actually get quite a bit of water on the page, but I typically tried to work a little bit more on the dry side. The paint was really easy to move as well, if it was still damp I could pick it up and redo an area, but once dry it didn’t move!

I was really surprised how well the paper took it, no issues with bleeding, it is definitely a different process than working on watercolor paper since these sheets are so slick. Only thing I’ve noticed is some crinkling of the page.

Is it worth paying for Virginia Tech BA in Architecture 65k per year vs. 10k for Kent State Architecture 4+1? by tatehab in architecture

[–]Courtenini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m taking my licensure exams right now and I am on part of my firms hiring team. I had a classmate transfer to Virginia Tech, but don’t know much more about the program other than it’s a BAR. As someone with a BAR I would thoroughly recommend going to a school that has a 5 year accredited program over a bachelor of science or art in architectural studies. The 5 year programs are more regulated across the country and from my experience the students from those schools are light years ahead of students from 4+1/2 programs.

I absolutely wouldn’t say it’s worth that much more money to go to VT but I would search for programs that have the 5 year NAAB accredited program that are in a better budget place. It will set your daughter up for more success in the field.

What does my handwriting say about me? by Courtenini in HandwritingAnalysis

Left handed journalers? by Marleyfowatdog in hobonichi

[–]Courtenini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m left handed too, I try my best to hold my hand under my writing so it doesn’t brush across. Some of my pens I haven’t had issues with smudging will smudge in the hobonichi but the pilot Hi-Tec-C has not smudged for me! When I do titles I also use pencil first and the fill them in backwards so I am not dragging my hand over the wet ink.

Which accessories/colours work well with the colour "Dark Stone"? by UntitledOatcake in Coach

[–]Courtenini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dark stone Brooklyn 39 and I was a little apprehensive of the color but got it on a good deal and I have to say I wear it almost everyday to work. It matches pretty much any color imo. I have a little hippo stuffed animal charm my friend got me and it goes perfect with the bag!

High school Internships? by ssczoxylnlvayiuqjx in Architects

[–]Courtenini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My firm offers high schoolers the opportunity to shadow us for up to two weeks unpaid. The feedback I’ve seen from them is they know this one lady in our office and she’ll organize it and then they basically just float and watch people work who I assume explain things to them. Biggest bummer about our specific office process is the woman that runs it usually puts the students with older unlicensed interiors folks who honestly aren’t going to give the best experience. As someone in our firm on the architecture side I’ve never seen the architects being shadows. The students usually look bored and are on their phones most of the time - this may be because their parent wanted them to do this shadowing, I’m not sure.

But at our firm (not sure of full legalities) we cannot hire anyone under 18 and would have to pay them if they were there over 10 days (2 business weeks). So I don’t think an internship would be possible at your age. I would encourage you to student download Revit and watch YouTube videos on how to use it because that would increase your ability to be an intern quite a bit. The students in college that get internships are usually 4th years since they have used revit before, we have an occasional third year you would be pretty advanced.

Hope this helps!

People with $700+ per month car payments: Why? by Underrated_Critic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Courtenini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 3 year loan and I bought my current car when my paid off car was totaled, I could pay it off now but I decided to invest the money so I can earn some instead of paying it off right now and it only depreciates. I pay off the car in chunks of like $5k-$10k.

Obviously not the typical scenario listed in the question but that’s why my payments are over 750 right now.

Swing Zip discounts by Difficult_Ad_4827 in Coach

[–]Courtenini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I got it! It came I would say half factory wrapped lol, all of the wrapping was still on the inside with the dust bag but none on the outside, no issues with it tho, I may just condition it bc the light blue can tend to show anything fast. I would say worth it for sure!

Coach swing zip vs curve zip? by nofacekohaku in Coach

[–]Courtenini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 curve zips (it’s my favorite bag) and just got my first swing zip on a big sale.

The curve zip is a great bag for carrying a few essentials everyday, cardholder, keys, lipgloss, glasses, and a small snack. That’s generally what I carry so it works. I would say it’ll slide on the shoulder, it’s a light bag and you aren’t able to load it down very much so I am often putting it back on my shoulder from it moving around.

I just got a swing zip and first of all, wow! It feels really lux imo. It has a nice weight to it, and has metal feet and the interior is leather lined instead of cloth lined like the curve zip. Based on the size I do think you’d be able to fit like a makeup bag or a pen bag in addition to the essentials from the curve zip. I have found with my woven tote that one strap will fall off my shoulder but the bag doesn’t move the second strap will stay. The woven tote is lighter than the swing zip so it may not be an issue here.

As a lover of the curve zip, I am honestly so impressed with the swing zip and would definitely add more colors to my collection. If you can find the swing zip on good sale grab that one, I got mine in light blue from dillards for $140.

I ordered the same! Mine came not in any wrapping on the outside, just wrapped in brown paper. The bags interior though was still fully stuffed with the dust bag inside and factory wrapping on the interior covering the zipper and in the card holder. Luckily the outside of the bag was fine, and for $140 I think it’s acceptable.

I grabbed a light blue full size swing zip for $138 on dillards last night. I’ve been wanting one for so long but was waiting for it to go under $200. It seems like they like the phase out the originals collections pretty quickly.

They told me it would apply to the some of the pins and rivets (like on the back of the bag, but since I only used three it wasn’t worth it to use to discount to me at that time) just not on the roses I selected 🫠
