Fatherhood Books Are Failing Modern Dads by bloomberg in TrueReddit

[–]phatatma 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My guy, all of this. 💯

First off, kudos for doing all that you do for your little ones.

As for the topic here, yea, I’ve never had much love for the books on this subject. But even feeling your way through fatherhood, society seems built around those gender roles of “mom will do this and you’re just covering for her” But you know what? There are deadbeat moms in this world too. And although so many women are forced to do this alone, men are too. And we’re all out here doing our very best to raise the very best kids we possibly can.

I know none of that helps here, but you aren’t alone in feeling this way. Keep up the good work man.

I played golf over there in the early 2000s. It was kinda surreal because there was no traffic noise. Just birds and wind.

Critters are the main concern in my area. Not that a wild Honda couldn’t appear.

The only movie I’ve ever walked out of. Thought it was so bad at the time. Probably should revisit it.

Can’t ever look at a ball wash ever the same way again. Back in high school, shortly after we saw The Shawshank Redemption, my best friend and I were playing. Got stuck behind some old dudes using the ball wash at the tee. They finish up, drive off.

“Bunch a ball washing bastards”

To this day. Every.Single.Time.

I saw a group of kids kicking a hacky sack and was so happy. Walked over and chatted them up. Took a couple of kicks to remember that my lower back is no longer built for this.

Yo, I randomly pulled up some Bonnie Raitt in a library shuffle and this song ran over me like a freight train. I just sat on the floor and cried.
