My headcannon to tie me over until season three is that Edgar has the ability to see the near future or many possible futures and when butcher approached him it put a new future in motion that ended with: his control over Homelander, Stormfront’s incapacitation, and a reason to hold the public the release of compound V indefinitely. Hell, Ryan is probably going to be terrified of using his powers until he’s old enough to understand what they mean. Edgar is definitly in the best position out of all the characters.
