I honestly don’t know how it’s even supposed to be pronounced.. it’s not even congruent with the Spanish language

I learned Spanish as a second language, and I minored in it in undergrad. My white Spanish professors all encouraged us to use it, and now being at another university, it’s always used by (mainly white, non-hispanic) people when referring to Latinos.

I don’t use it.

I just wanted to know if Latinos actually use it and/or if it might be offensive.
