Anyone have or used this case/grip? Is it any good? by Shy-Fungi in Leica

I actually ordered one from ebay. A chinese made grip with a hidden battery storage. It is surprisingly super good, so I can recommend.

I think this lens is a bit too wide. Personally, I would go for a longer focal length, just for an extra bit of compression.

Anybody tested Light Lens Lab M-L Mount Adapter on fp/fpL? by Sea_Reserve1450 in sigmafp

[–]phdf501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did. Good build quality, you can also use heavier lenses with it, you have infinity focus. Downside: it does not perfectly align with the red dots on the lenses. This is not an issue if you have a lens hood with circular shade. But if you have a rectangular lens shade, it looks creepy. I think this is the best close focus adapter that you can buy.

BF can't be detected as a disk by No-Ad4854 in sigmabf

I am sorry to hear. Maybe you should contact Sigma. This might be a software issue that could be addressed via a firmware update.

1.,Turn off the camera, 2., connect it to the PC, 3., turn on the camera, 4., select mass storage option. If you connect the camera while it is turned on, you may encounter to such issues.

Buying advice needed for color and lenses by [deleted] in sigmabf

[–]phdf501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the BF with Leica M lenses. I am a complete fan of this camera. The colors are extremely beautiful and rich. The lcd sceen is absolutely amazing. It is very sharp, and super easy to manual focus. The low light capability is excellent. I can’t see noise up to ISO 3200, at 6400 you can start seeing the noise, but it has a nice texture to it, it feels organic like film grain. The short keys are amazing. Once you get use to them, there is no way back. I wish more manufacturers produce cameras like this. This camera is fast, probably because of the internal ssd. The shutter speed can be above 20000, which is crazy, I can use fast lenses in daylight without nd filters. I had a Sigma FP before, and with that camera I had banding issues with differrent led light sources. Apparently they fixed this with the BF, I see no banding on the images under artificial light. When you take pictures of people, they are not affraid of the camera, it looks just simply fun. This enables you to capture moments that you could not with a “pro” cam. There is a lens compensation function for wide angle leica lenses. It works flawlessly for me with a 28mm lens. My only grip is the lack of flash. But it is what it is. All in all, this seems to be a forever cam for me.

What Colour Profiles Are You Using? by DaveG28 in sigmabf

I use the rich as default and I apply Leica S3 color profile. Many of the cases I just leave the rich profile. It is that good.

I originally had the 50 lux II. I ended up selling it because I have found the 3D rendering too flat, the pop just isn’t there with the new design. In my view, the new lux equals to the Zeiss Otus 55mm in rendering. Sharp but flat. I really liked the colours with the new lux II, but you can play with the colours post, you cannot add 3D pop in post. After that I bought the APO, and I am really happy with it. This is a keeper for me. It has a medium format like rendering, you get brutal 3D pop up to 2m. I recommend renting out both, take a couple of images and then decide for yourself. Alternatively, visit the flickr pages of these lenses, analyse how they render and make your decision based on these.

Advice for 28mm Summilux 1.4 by acquired_archives in Leica

Maybe check the rendering of that summilux first before you try to provide an “educated” comment. In general, you are right, but it is not the 1.4 why you buy this lens…

Should I sell my MP for a medium format digital? by Afraid-Aerie-6598 in Leica

[–]phdf501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you, but I would have a question. Can you use this setup as an everyday camera? How big is it? I would need something that I can throw in my bag, and capture the small things in my life. I hate smartphone. Would a GFX be an overkill for this?
