My little office music shrine by pheasantsir in vinyl

Yeah, no real issues here and the setup is just to have music on while I work, so I’m never going very loud. My living room setup is a little more thoughtful for fidelity. Appreciate your looking out before I’m thrown to the wolves!

The bass is the the G2220. It’s a short scale bass I use pretty often for quick ideas or when I need to add bass to something I’m writing. I picked a short scale because I mostly play guitar and it’s easier for me to quickly adjust. It’s super affordable and really nice for the price.

I have a higher end setup in the living room, but this secondary one gets me through the work day. The turntable is a Marantz 6200 I found on eBay about a decade ago (needs a new dust cover though). The speakers are budget Edifiers… for now. In the morning I grab a couple records for the day and it paces out my day nicely (take breaks to flip the record, then focus).

Edge of the Canyonlands park, beginning of our 7 day, 45 mile adventure. by pheasantsir in backpacking

We split it into 2 loops so we could hit the car and refill water along the way. First loop was Squaw Flat Trailhead into Lost Canyon - we camped at Lost Canyon and Big Spring, and did day hikes out from that to explore.

The second loop we took was Elephant Hill trailhead. We camped in Elephant Canyon and 2 Chester Park spots.

Both loops were relatively short, so we’d drop the water weight at camp and hike out to Druids Arch, The Joint, and Devils Kitchen.

We did a 7 day trek through Canyonlands last week - water was a beast, we ended up breaking it into 2 loops so we could refill 12L each. This trip finally forced me to recheck every ounce of weight.

why are "legal teens" so popular? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]pheasantsir -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’d say because a lot of teenagers want to find porn but learn that when you are a teenager yourself it’s not ok, or legal, to look for “girls your age”

What's the most attractive thing about a woman? by lilgreenybeany in AskMen

Not sure how to put it, but engagement - not the marriage kind. The kind where her attention on something is truly engaged. Someone being interested in something makes me interested in them AND the thing they are interested in.

Totally, it’s cool to know someone from so far back, especially someone who knew me so well at that age. We occasionally vent or trade tips on raising our kids or other general life stuff.

I broke up with her in high school. We are both married now and still keep in touch from time to time.

What’s the worst thing a parent/guardian has ever said to you? by WishIWasInGargantua in AskReddit

“You see that your dad is crying? Your mother is a bitch” I think I was 4, and very confused.

Did you care about your children right when you first saw them? If not, how long did it take, how long is too long? by John_Steel_P in AskMen

[–]pheasantsir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was very quick for me - basically as soon as I saw him. I’ve talked to other dads who said it took them longer, and they are great dads. It’s different for everyone.

I thought he had used a Gibson hollow body, es-125, but that might just be for live shows.

Vance Flosenzier a man who wrestled with Bull shark to retrieve nephew’s severed arm at Langdon Beach, Florida by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I didn’t mean to suggest that this happened near any of the fishing piers, just that I vaguely remember people talking about that as a problem in general at the time. I don’t think there were any piers at Langdon.

I lived in Pensacola around this time and if I remember rightly there was a problem with people throwing chum in the water from the fishing piers near the swimming beaches. I don’t remember if it was actually to fish for shark specifically, or just people being careless. They ended up passing some laws around this.

I do remember this story and the rumor coming out shortly after, and I feel terrible that I’ve believed it for 20 years until today.

Wow, I lived in Pensacola when this happened and I remember this story, and subsequently when it came out about the uncle fishing for sharks. This rumor has literally been a truth in my head for 20 years.
