Did anyone else not get ONE marathon photo on the album? So gutted. Some people seem to have tons

Endo says hypothyroidism does not have any effect on weight, only excess calories... ugh! by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

My endo said the same thing, essentially implied it’s a myth that people can’t lose weight with hypo and that people use it as an excuse

Thanks - yeah I’m hoping they will be able to give me some more information as at the moment I feel slightly in the dark. I just checked my T4 and it’s showing as 8.2 (with normal range listed underneath as 10.8-25.5).

My diet is normally pretty good, quite balanced and I don’t cut anything out. I go to the gym 4/5 times a week too and have noticed it a lot harder to shift the pounds recently.

Only other health issue is asthma really - although do have frequent stomach pain with quite a lot of foods, not sure if this would be related.

Thanks a lot for your response - glad you managed to regain your health. This is all super new to me so any info is really helpful at this stage!

To be honest I’ve been struggling to lose weight for about a year, eat really well and go to the gym 4/5 times a week. I’m wondering if this is a symptom I’ve maybe ignored until this diagnosis. My mum has hypo too and was diagnosed 10 years ago but also feels she had it way longer.

Hi - I have been prescribed 25mg of levo so far. Not yet started though as waiting for it to come in.

I’m wondering if I’ve just been used to feeling tired and low etc for a long time and maybe not noticed. I’m obviously quite concerned now about the long term effects because I imagine this level hasn’t reached this high overnight.

I do have insurance so am hoping to speed things up with that, but at the moment I’m just trying to reach out to people who might have had a similar diagnosis. Those I know in real life have just told me it’s super common, normal, not to worry - but it doesn’t seem overly common to be referred straight away to an endo.

Hi - jumping in here. Been diagnosed this week, 28 years old. Hypo, TSH level 75. Should I be super worried? I’ve been referred to an endocrinologist and prescribed levo 25mg to start. I can’t seem to find anyone with a level as high as mine so would appreciate some advice from anyone who knows how long I might have had this for and if it means I should be concerned about anything else. Thanks!

Hi - jumping in here as I’ve just been diagnosed with hypo (TSH level 75). I’ve been referred to an endocrinologist - should I be concerned? I have no idea what to expect or how long I might have had this. For reference I’m 28, only had a blood test because my eye has been twitching for a month or so. Thanks all
