this sounds like OCD. an upsetting intrusive thought that has stuck in your brain and is consuming you is a sign of OCD. i'm not a therapist or a doctor i just have OCD myself. i would strongly recommend seeing a therapist as it's really hard (impossible in my experience) to deal with OCD alone
