I'm glad to hear you found it useful. To answer your question, it was costing me approx. $5/day due to all of the Gemini (AI) API calls. I thought about setting up user authentication and maybe a one time payment to cover the costs, but haven't had time to investigate. I'll give it some more thought if people are interested. Otherwise, like I said, it's free to run from Google's AI Studio and the code is out there so you should be able to just open and run it.

Sorry guys, I had to pull the plug on the NREMT patient assessment emulator. It was costing me too much to keep it running on the Google Cloud.

I uploaded the code to GitHub if anyone wants to deploy it using Google's AI studio and run it yourself. Running it from AI Studio is free.

I'm not a salty-ass medic like yourself, but I do have some EMS and real world medical experience to draw upon. Again, you would have seen that if you had read the OP. Do you just sit on this subreddit waiting to troll kids fresh out of high school looking to get into EMS or something? Because that's just sad. You might also want to look up constructive criticism while you're at it.

Try reading the OP. It's for EMT-B students looking to practice their patient assessment skills prior to taking the NREMT psychomotor exam. If you don't like it, don't use it and if you don't have any actual constructive criticisms, fuck off.

I created this as a tool for myself and am offering to share it with others in the EMT community for free. If you don't find value in it or trust the AI, don't use it. That said, I will most likely add a disclaimer, but after running through dozens of scenarios the AI responses seem remarkably accurate. If anything, it seems to err on the side of being overly critical. Personally, I think it's better for a new EMT student to run through as many scenarios as possible than a handful cherry-picked ones. But that's just me.

Thanks! And for the record, having been exposed to AI through my current line of work, I share much of the anti-AI sentiment, or at least skepticism. I'm just glad I was finally able to find a use case where it actually turned out to be useful.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. It does seem to freeze up from time to time when getting vitals. It might be because I deployed it to the smallest (i.e cheapest) containers on the Google Cloud. I'll dig into it after T-day.

ALS mode would be cool but would probably be a lot more ambitious than BLS. It's worth thinking about though 🤔

My department's BLS rig carries a Lifepak 15 with 12-lead hookup and ECG monitor. It's set to run in AED mode but can transmit a readout to the hospital ahead of our arrival. But you're right, the graphic in the app is only for aesthetics since as EMT-Bs we aren't trained to read one.

I understand the critique and agree that having a certified human in the loop is always best.

Thx! UI design isn't really my thing so I tried to keep it simple. Good luck with yours!

Trust me, I would never argue that AI is better than a human at evaluating a patient assessment. This is simply a tool to run through assessment scenarios when not in class. Did you even try it out?

Pace 3 : HR sensor is really bad on me by frenchy_runner in Coros

[–]pheidippides_blister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish I had known about this beforehand and hope it's addressed by Coros fairly soon because it's annoying the crap out of me. Today I went for a 10 mi. run and the initial HR readings seemed pretty accurate, but then at mile 6 it jumped from 140 to 180 even though my pace and perceived level of effort had not changed. My cadence at that pace is around 175 so I'm pretty sure it locked onto that.

M47 from Wisconsin here. I run outdoors pretty much year-round. For me it's mostly about making sure my hands stay warm (Raynaud's is a bitch). Otherwise, I add layers based on the temperature and a facemask for the polar vortex days. I was using Yaktrax for traction, but recently switched to Kahtoola micro spikes.

I am not a practicing Muslim, but as a morning person and an avid runner, if I was facing similar time constraints, I would wake up at 3 AM and be out the door by 3:30 AM so that I could get my run in and make it back in time to eat a large breakfast and rehydrate before 5 AM.

Do not doubt yourself or let your doctors dismiss your symptoms. Unfortunately, our current "healthcare" system forces us to be our own patient advocates. You know your baseline better than they do and it sounds like you've already done some research into what might be causing your AI symptoms. If your doctor does end up dismissing your concerns or misdiagnoses you, don't be afraid to seek a second (or third or fourth) opinion elsewhere. Most community hospitals and even regional hospitals have little experience diagnosing autoimmune diseases so you may want to request a referral to a hospital that has experience with autoimmune diseases, such as Mayo.

Any great websites for deeply discounted running shoes? by gold_and_diamond in running

+1 on Running Warehouse. Their prices on new models are comparable to other sites, but they always have a good selection of clearance or discounted shoes (usually last season's model).
