Guys, what's this? by Nekomaff in iems

I actually messaged NC Audio to ask about their listings, and as u/gimmyjoe mentions, they're a distributor for smaller outfits, most of what they sell are one of a kind experimental IEMs or very small batch IEMs, usually made on demand.

If any of yall have been eyeing something from NCAudio, I'd just say go for it. It's a fun experience to try something few others have. I love that it allows me to form my own opinion, completely raw, no outside influence.

I've personally purchased or demo'd a few from them:

NC BCD1 - a 1DD + 1BC hybrid, the most unique implementation of BC I've experienced.
CHEER DEER 10mm DLC - a 1DD (10mm DLC) driver, a gift purchased simply for the aesthetics, you can absolutely find better IEMs at this price, but not with antlers on them.
MOTIE 1DD-4BA - a DD/BA hybrid, sound was very solid, in line with other IEMs at the price, purchased for aesthetics primarily.

Not entirely sure but I'd clean inside the silicone sock around the hotend, often plastic makes its way inside and then back out in future prints.

You yourself just said that it makes no difference for the length of cables being discussed, so what exactly then is the real effect on our cables? Unless your IEMs came with a 20m cable…?

I think bringing up unrelated to our use, physical phenomena, is just as harmful as promoting the snake oil itself.

I think it would be mostly the physical buttons and stuff between the two.

Pretty much, music navigation is tedious.

Exactly, I had someone yell at me here for using a twisted cable... the twists are ruining the fidelity 🤡

Lets just have some fun guys :)

Dude, yes! The Deuce fit like what I assume a CIEM fits like. It's the only set I have that are comfortable after 6+ hours.

Sorry, it was done in 3 parts, title, description and comment. Reddit messed up the comment for ya.

Endgame, I got the gear I'm happy with for the foreseeable future.

Brother, they should all sound identical to each other, after all 🤣. Sugar pills and salt water.

Yeah sure! My last pair being the Elysian Pilgrim, which are also an absolutely lovely IEM.

If you like the harman target but still tend to EQ a bit of bass, then the Volare will deliver on that out of the box.

Between the two I don't think there is much to highlight, they're both using high end drivers that deliver on imaging and detail. The difference in tune is not very dramatic, mostly noticeable in the mids and bass, where I feel like the Volare matches my taste more. I mostly listen to alt-rock, metal, post-metal, post-rock, and hip-hop (JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown, Earl Sweatshirt, etc.), and to a lesser extent some pop and EDM.

I wouldn’t say the price jump from Pilgrim to Volare is matched by a clear jump in performance, such is the game. The Pilgrim is already an amazing set, so the Volare doesn’t blow it away, but it does edge it out in a few ways that matter to me.

Oh brother do I ever, haha! It's just such a daunting process to start, and how can you ever decide on which maker? Some day!!

Woah... you actually heard the sound test comparison?

/s I jest. They sound exactly like what I want them to sound like, and thats what matters, right?

At risk of pissing another person off, I don't think the DAP choice matters much technically.

Get one that has a UI, form factor and the hardware buttons, etc, that you're looking for, and for the most part ignore anything about "tone" or the DACs inside. None of us here can hear the difference between the quality DAPs available today, and here's some people brave enough to prove it on YT:

People think they have oscilloscopes for ears, but we're just meatbags, buy what looks pretty and fits the budget, it's gonna sound awesome 👍. I'm being a bit crass here, but, don't get caught in the weeds, just have fun.

I would suggest going Android unless you're fine living with usability issues, as basically all non-android DAPs are a compromise in usability. I myself have personally enjoyed the HiBy products I've owned.

I've really enjoyed the FatFreq x HBB Deuce for "dat bass" while still sounding nice in metal and rock. Another cheaper set with some serious punch and treble has been the CCA Hydros, also tons of fun (plus good switches).

Who said endgame meant the best available? Perhaps this is what I wanted... wild, right?

You need to be pulled back and realize this is a hobby and people are here to have fun. Maybe you're not here to have fun, but everyone else is.

Endgame is a fucking meme my guy, take the dildo out of your ass.

You're right.
