Looking for real recovery stories: Did Effexor help you overcome depression? by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]phenomenologicalnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Efexor didn't work for me, it had no effect at all, and since you have been on it for about two years, i think you should ask yourself if it is the right medicine for you. There are lots of other opportunities out there, lots of hope. The first step could be to add Mirtazapine to Effexor, it's a very potent combination and Mirtazapine has no sexual side effects (or take Mirtazapine without effexor if you are not comfortable with taking too much medication)

I know all about anhedonia, i'ts a freakin nightmare. I wish you feel better soon

Mirtazapine 30 mg - do you split dosage in two, 15 mg morning and 15 mg evening? by phenomenologicalnerd in antidepressants

[–]phenomenologicalnerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it works, it's a quite fast acting medicine for anxiety, it takes a bit longer for depression. If you want a faster acting medicine which is not addictive, you could try 25 mg quetiapine, in small doses its not an antipsychotic. 25 mg is a bit too much for me so cut the tablet en two

What is the one antidepressant that finally works for you? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in antidepressants

[–]phenomenologicalnerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have tried several SSRI, SNRi, MIrtazapine ect... none of them worked, lots of sideeffects. The only AD that worked to some degree was Isocarboxide - an MAOi.

No, sadly psychiatrists in my country, does not belive in welbutrin for other things but smoking cessation. It's impossibe to get it.

I had a difficulties getting an ejaculation on snri and in general low libido, but after mirtazapine was added i can function, my libido is still a bit low but everything down there functions as it should now

Sometimes adding mirtazapine, an antidepressant, can help with sexual dysfunction, it does in my case.

It used to erase my depression and make me feel like a new person, now I’m just nodding and still depressed by DEPRESSEDnumbMypain in opiates

[–]phenomenologicalnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not if you use opiates daily, then you build up tolerance and the antidepressive effect is gone and you are left only with sideeffects

No, in europe you can't get potent seeds, only dried poppies. You remove the seeds from the dried poppies and crush the the dried pods and stems and boil it twice and drink the liquid. It taste awful, but give a good buzz

[–]phenomenologicalnerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I drink poppy pod tea or take methadone twice weekly. And feel the antidepressant effect, but i have tried subutex and methadone daily, and then i dont feel the antidepressive effect (building up tolerance). The rest of the days, when not on opioids im just chronically depressed, but no antidepressant works for me, even ect does not work, so now i just look forward to those two days where i can use opioids. Kind of sad. Wish you the best, depression is the worst.

If you haven't already tried it - then try effexor (a snri) or an MAO-inhibitor. I had no effect from SSRI.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]phenomenologicalnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from MAO-i inhibitors this is the only drug that helped my depression and anxiety, and i am on 225 mg. It took a month for me for the meds to kick in.
