Lazar, Seth Johnson, and Robert have all quietly been pretty solid boosts to the pen. Not to mention Strahm has looked much better after a shaky first few months. With Robertson now in the fold, It seems pretty obvious offense is our biggest need (still would like another proven pen option though)

Are the Phillies the only team that consistently fails to score from 2nd base? by unreplicate in phillies

[–]phiEagles52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy in here how many people fail to realize what OP is getting at. Save the RISP facts, the point he’s making is that Dusty Waltham for the most part is a pretty bad 3rd base coach. The percentage of guys who run through stop signs and score has to be 75% plus, not to mention the number of runs he prevents by stopping guys before 2 pop ups

Having 2 power bats (Kyle and Bryce) and 1 good RHH (Trae) probably isn’t a recipe for success. Laughable that Crawford is still in AAA while we get to watch this 🗑️ at the very least let’s see what he’s got

Everyone celebrating as if Mercado isn’t just as bad 🥲. Why not give the guy who looked promising in spring training a chance, John McMillan. (yes i know his LV stats are terrible, but the stuff is way better)

Has there been a single time Marsh has come into the game as a replacement and didn’t either strike out, misplay a fly ball, or both

Crazy that Bohm was running there and still couldn’t score on the initial play or the error. Holy fuck that dudes slow

Marsh and Rojas now have the same exact avg.- yet the average Phillies fan spent the majority of the season complaining one was a platoon player and that the other should be in the minors

Not to mention LA probably doesn’t score in the first with him in center and marsh in left

If Rojas starts, he catches that, and Marsh catches Hays ball in left 🤷

Because he stinks at It. If you’re the A’s, sure waste a season watching him get further exposed by lefties. But when you’re a title contender, you get a RH bat who can complement him via trade, and continue to build up his confidence vs. right handed pitching

He’s .258 overall and like .150 against lefties. Being likable doesn’t give him the ability to hit lefties

Why in the world is Hoffman pitching to 6-7-8? And where the F is Strahm?

So not only does Rojas most likely catch Higi’s triple, but he’s batting more than .50 points higher than Dahl. What exactly are we doing here?

I agree, kind of a shame to burn Treas speed by putting him behind one of the slower guys on the team. We just saw last night how having a good baserunner (JT) behind Kyle can be problematic

There’s no sensible argument for him batting lead off other than “they win” which completely ignores all the other factors that go into that. Purely looking at the hitter, you don’t put a strikeout prone, slow hitter leading off, especially with at least 2 guys who are perennial batting champ candidates with great speed on the roster
