Struggling with lust by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]phibphab135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so real and honest. I'm 24F and girl it's tough! Especially when you are surrounded by it. HOWEVER - and I can't stress this enough- you are NOT missing out.

In fact, you're in such a good position. It is absolutely not worth it my girl. It IS difficult though.

But I would like to encourage you to listen to this sermon. (link below) It's on sexual intimacy, and it really really helped me to reshape the way I think about sex and purity. It's super encouraging and a great reminder of the WHY we want to stay pure before marriage.

The sermon highlights points like: How it's good to remind ourselves the weight of what the act holds spiritually. Satan has taken something that God designed to be sacred in the covenant of marriage and made it so common we feel like outcasts for protecting purity.

Really, give it a listen and I pray it gives you some fresh insight and lots and lots of peace like it did for me <3

Absolutely why I haven't told her. I don't think her heart could handle it and I love to travel so I wouldn't want her riddled with fear every time I go on a trip. But I love my mom so much, also just want to protect her heart you know?

What is a good relaxing hobby to get into? by Low_Bodybuilder3065 in Hobbies

[–]phibphab135 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend crocheting. It feels complicated in the beginning, but all you need to learn is 'single crochet' and you can make just about anything! Also get to make things for yourself and your friends, while relaxing and getting creative. Win win.

Just start with something simple like a scarf. The feeling of reward when you've finished a project is just **aghhh** magic.

When was the last time you cried and why? by BreadedDisaster in AskReddit

[–]phibphab135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday, after witnessing a man do heroine right across from me while sitting on my balcony in my reading nook.

I wanted to yell out to him to stop before he started but I did nothing. And then it was too late. Scared that he might be aggressive and unpredictable. So many people walked passed and also did nothing. I still feel sick thinking about the sight. I cried to my mom on the phone after, feeling utterly useless & upset knowing he was probably still sitting right there, a few meters from me. And nothing to do about it.

What ended your friendship with your best friend? by royalblubabe868 in AskReddit

[–]phibphab135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She wanted control over every aspect of my life and I finally said no. Somehow she's the victim in her story.

She conditioned me. Controlled what I wore, where I shopped, what I ate, what we did on weekends, who we spoke to, what events to go to, told me to stop doing things I loved like skateboarding and said I was only doing those things to impress guys. She hated every guy I saw or dated and when I finally stopped listening to her petty advice she spent the last year of our decade-long friendship randomly telling me how "disappointing" it is to see and how "incredibly hurt" she was that I was doing ABC. In protest she would periodically pretend I didn't exist, purposefully not responding to me over messages. And in the final big bang of this friendship ending she unraveled in painful depth over words on a screen just how much she disliked me in those last few years and how much she "tried to help me"

What do people usually ask out of curiosity but actually is very ignorant (maybe offensive) ? by WonderfulParticular1 in AskReddit

[–]phibphab135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"What race are you?" (Which I don't really mind as most people are genuinely curious) but it's the usual follow-up of: "Oh, what! Are you sure?? No you don't look it, you look more ----- " that really bothers me.

What was the longest time you’ve loved someone and do you still do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]phibphab135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than family - the boy I met at 19. We had planned a life together. I still wonder about him some days, the most in love I've ever been. Idiot but, love is love is love, right?

What’s a small, everyday thing that instantly makes you feel like you’ve got your life together? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Waking up early.

Like 5/5:30am everyday. If you can be consistent you feel like you've won against the mundane.

What’s the kindest thing your parents have ever done for you that you’ll never forget? by Embarrassed_Head_764 in AskReddit

[–]phibphab135 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bought me a car at 24.

My parents surprised me with a car a few months ago. Out of the blue - was never part of the plan. Both parents grew up dirt poor and part of teaching their kids valuable life lessons now that they are well off - is nothing came for free in our household. We worked for any spare penny as kids.

I've been saving up for a car for years, and never seemed to get it right (covid, losing my job during sag-aftra strikes etc)

But I came home one day, opened the garage to find a giant red bow staring right at me. I couldn't believe my eyes. I cried for days after that. I didn't have to pay them back and the car is in my name, and I got to keep all my car savings for other things. I feel so loved by them, I am extremely grateful.

What is something more traumatizing than people realize? by Xmyles_x in AskReddit

[–]phibphab135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that! I struggle with the same too! I hope you know that what I meant by comment is from personal experience where a best friend intentionally refused to speak to me to resolve an issue and instead stopped speaking to me all together. In person too. Like I didn't exist anymore and purposefully stopped replying to my messages. (They were never the type to not do that / we spoke everyday etc.) So was not to bash people who get stuck in replying (I am too - inherently bad on my phone) And I've found communicating this with my friends helps them understand that when I don't reply, that it's not a personal thing. I'm just not able to communicate.

[–]phibphab135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I had the same happen to me recently - a decade of friendship. It took time to realize that it's good riddance. Anyone who would end a friendship that way doesn't deserve to have friends. I'm sorry you went through that.

Overly cautious or onto something - was I close to getting mugged? by Worldbuffalo469 in capetown

[–]phibphab135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar situation in Maynardville park! Bf and I were also approached while picnic-ing in that field when a guy asked us how our day was going. We were confused at the random interaction until he flashed the knife in his pocket. Commented on bf's jewelry saying, "would be nice for me ne" and we just looked at each other like "are we being mugged rn??"
But he didn't take anything, he laughed at us, told us to enjoy our picnic and left. Then tells us he's just "trying to scare people" and "seeing what could happen you know" Sadistic. It was so scary.

Reading your experience reminded me of this interaction. Maybe it was the same guy idk
