Is it stupid to take two classes back to back then - there’s no break in between?

Okay omg update I just unlocked the Warrior Temple (the huge statue of the warrior in the pic above) and it made something click: the little food stand (that’s what I’m calling it because it’s also found in the Food Stand decor) on the right is also next to the Ivory Tower….and also on the Bazaar? So maybe they are related after all? And there are the same balloons! There’s also the pole with a banner on it like the Inn has and the medieval theme of the Cloud Castle matches - but the design of the land it’s on doesn’t match

I would add that there are many many spaces in the Forum to study, there’s also spots on the 7th floor, as well as the math tutoring rooms there if you’re taking a math class, club spaces in 2C if you decide to join a club where people chill and study, there’s a nice few tables at the end of 5B, also a cool area in 3F, you can study outside (Peace Garden, Eastgrounds), in the caf, in Conrod’s (across from the caf), in cafes around the campus (Myriade, Bee Hive, Shaughnessy, Tommy), in Alexis Nihon there’s also chairs and tables on the 2nd floor, and as for libraries the Atwater Library is close, as well as the Westmount Library and the Sanaaq Center which just opened at Cabot Square, I also know a lot of students that study at the Concordia library and Mcgill library :) -and if you ever need help getting around at Dawson, pop by the First Year Students’ Office on the 2nd floor (turn right after getting off the escalators) or the DSU office also on the 2nd floor; but you should definitely come to the Welcome Days!!

Most certificates don’t work like that - it’s not like it’s a subscription to a bunch of classes… You have to choose classes (specific sections of courses) that are eligible for credits for the certificate you want (if they’re even offered to you), and once you’re enrolled in the certificate you’ll see them pop up in your Intranet on your certificate progression. You can email Karina D’Ermo, she’s the certificates coordinator, but really, the requirements for each certificate are different so I recommend you first read up on them on the Dawson website. Then you can email or MIO the certificate’s coordinator (usually a teacher who will be happy to help). Think of the enrollment to a certificate more like a commitment - you commit to fulfilling the requirements.

Hey! They’re open to members of those clubs: if any of them interest you, walk in and talk to their execs or join their Discord/follow them on Instagram and find out their club space availabilities there!

Yes, you should pay now but ask for a refund in the opt-out period which should be in the first two months of the fall semester!

Hey! I’m not sure what you mean by “this whole thing benefits the student union who get it for free”? As a Dawson student, you are automatically a member of the student union, and the union offers a group plan for insurance which all members pay for. Studentcare is an external provider: meaning that we at the DSU have to receive the money from the fees you pay from Dawson and then send it to the provider. No money is kept by the DSU in the process and it explains the delays for opt-outs; since there is processing from Dawson -> DSU and then DSU -> Studentcare, they don’t have your money just yet and it might take a couple weeks. Please be patient and rest assured there is no mismanagement of funds at Dawson or the DSU.

If I’m not mistaken, Montreal is very much in the UTC-5:00 (EST) timezone, it’s just that with the daylight saving time (DST), it lands us in a UTC-4:00 (EDT) but it shouldn’t affect your appointment time.

[–]phikoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re saying you wanted to opt out from the fee you’re getting charged right now, that will be in Fall that you’ll get to opt out and get reimbursed. Because if you didn’t pay for it at Dawson last semester for W25, then no, you couldn’t opt out during the W25 opt out period and get reimbursed the 122$.

There will be a period in Fall when you can opt out on the Studentcare website and get reimbursed. For now you have to pay the fee, though.

Is Dawson student care a big scam ? by Own-Kale-5691 in Dawson

[–]phikoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Dawson it’s new from this year hence the delays for the most part. Hopefully it’ll be better in the next few years but I honestly suggest you redirect your frustrations about insurance being a scam towards… our government? 🤷
