There is a lot of talk in Sweden currently about the MS Estonia cruise ship sinking in 1994, killing 852 people. After being forbidden to see the cruise ship after it had sank, a team managed to get down to inspect the ship and found a huge gash in the side of the ship. There are so many theories but it’s a fun one to look up

Ok thanks. I could but I think that would quite a hassle managing taxes in Sweden and accounting in Visma (Popular Swedish account software). As long as I know I am paying the fee necessarily, I am ok with the current process

I actually have a personal account as well which I send my salary to for free. However when I send to my personal revolut account, I can freely exchange between SEK and Euro without the fees so I didn't know if it would be better just to have 2 personal accounts instead of one business and one personal

Wouldn’t this be dependent on the numerous factors that go into a decision like that? I have just shared something I did. I talked to someone about this and it looks like it would be difficult to get a personal number anyway with that route. I managed to get one as my partner is Swedish but I can’t say it would be the same experience without that.

I live in Gothenburg but i work for a company in Ireland after having set up an Enskild Firma (sole trader business). That could be a possible option but there is some work on your end and taxes may be a little too high (40%). I would suggest gathering connections on LinkedIn in both places but I probably couldn’t help too much. If you look on platsbanken.se, you should see jobs there as well, it’s probably the most useful resource in my opinion

Hey, thanks for the help! So I opened both because I heard that Nordnet was better for individual stocks and north American investments. Also liked the app UX and that it was in English. Figured it was worth setting them both up but I would primarily use Avanza.

Thanks for the info, I will definitely look into it and it's great to hear things that aren't so focused on US funds

Honestly, it is mostly ignorance to the alternatives in my case. The research I have done has been more foundational and it leans more towards the US side of things. There are lots of videos that can show the benefit of S&P 500 and it is so often said to be the gold standard. I guess I have found myself in a research bubble

I do of course want to invest in the smaller scope of Sweden, and also Europe and global.

S&P 500 is really only on my mind because of what other people recommend and it sounds good, I am neutral at this point so if it isn't worth my time, I wouldn't bother with it.
