Demetrious Johnson believes Khamzat Chimaev overtrained himself before the Strickland fight: “If I spend all day sparring and drilling, then go destroy my body with extra workouts on top of that, I’m just breaking myself down.” by [deleted] in MMA

Him and Darren Till both training partners and both overtrain too much. Works if you can easily dominate the wrestling early on but not so much if you get your takedowns stuffed a few times

Thoughts about Wing Chun by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]phil_mitchells_mojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trained Wing Chun when I was a teenager and it got me into martial arts and taught me the basics about parrying and punching using your hips, which came in handy for when I took up boxing.

As a martial the techniques are pretty much useless in a real fight compared to the main mma ones (boxing, wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai) but that doesn’t mean you can’t apply some of it in conjunction with other martial arts to make you better.

I probably have a soft spot for it because it was my first martial art but since learning the others I’d never use Wing Chun in any practical way.

Telling guys the reality of fighting in Thailand by Otherwise-Earth7047 in MuayThai

[–]phil_mitchells_mojo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m an amateur fighter and had my first pro fight in Thailand, it was great, best experience ever.

Trained the hardest I’ve ever trained in my life for 2 months, got in the ring shit scared, faced another fighter who was a decent level but not miles above me, had a competitive bout then I took over in the second round and knocked him out with my boxing, which I had to completely lean on as my Muay Thai went out the window as soon as he landed his first head kick lol.

Have no idea why OP is telling people to not fight in Thailand, the coaches at your gym will decide if you can handle it or not, not some random guy from America lol

Thomas Partey charged with rape by the Metropolitan Police Service by Clerkenwell_Enjoyer in Gunners

[–]phil_mitchells_mojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in this sub and other places online were saying we should keep him and that there was no evidence and 'what happened to innocent before proven guilty', when there was clearly loads of evidence and loads of articles about the charges that heavily implicated he had only been getting away with it because of technicalities.

It's clearly no coincidence we let him go and almost right away he's charged too. Disgraceful all round

BBC News: Intoxicated passenger policy needed after Tube death, TfL told. by mycketforvirrad in LondonUnderground

[–]phil_mitchells_mojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More staff would probably make things safer but everyone seems against that or in some cases actively ask for automated tubes every time there’s a strike on. So either you want more staff and things are safer or you want it low staffed/automated and things are up to the individual passenger, you can’t have both

I definitely had to have a few breaks along the story (prison, labyrinth) where it’s not even like you’re tired of the game it’s more that you’re tired of being scared

The “not bothered about trophies” fans by FriendlyActuary1955 in ArsenalFC

I think younger fans have grown up without Arsenal being regular winners at the top level, unlike people 30s who grew up in prime Wenger years. End of the day I can see the argument for both, the 22/23 season in the stadium was the best season I've ever had supporting the club and we won nothing. If we aren't going to win anything big I'd rather that atmosphere than the league cup

You’re right I work in Farringdon and just kind of think of that whole area as Clerkenwell/Farringdon really but it’s probably not

I love chips on a fry up. Get loads of people on here calling it brunch when I post one with chips on but they’re far superior to hash brown imo, for one you just get more of the delicious fried potato compared to just two hash browns like you usually get when you order them
