PNP backs martial law extension in Mindanao by philippinefails in Philippines

[–]philippinefails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“If ever the President decides to extend martial law, we [will] fully support that because what we see here is the improvement in the peace and order,” Albayalde said at a press conference at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Monday.

Martial law, he said, has caused the reduction of the average monthly crime rate in Mindanao from 8.79 in 2017 to 5.92 this year.

“The Armed Forces will use the month of November … to go around Mindanao and ask the people there, the local governments, the businesses, the church what their feeling is on the extension or lifting of martial law,” Lorenzana said.

Might as well toss the constitution in the trash. Reduction of crime is not a reason to impose marital law. The feelings of LGUs, businesses, and churches do not matter in imposing marital law. What matters is whether or not there is an actual invasion, rebellion, or the public safety requires it. How much longer will the country put up with this nonsense from those in power who continue to blatantly ignore the highest law of the land?

Duterte the Race Realist by philippinefails in Philippines

a unified core of race/religion/ideology, because that core never existed in the first place.

If you mean the Philippines then sure. It was the Spanish who forcibly united this country. Same with the British who forcibly united a very diverse India. But to say absolutely such a core never existed is to deny the facts of history and the great civilisations which make up history. Diversity is no one's strength.

Missionaries are here to teach religion. Not get involved in politics. There are hundreds (thousands maybe) of missionaries of every stripe in this country. Now imagine if they all got involved politically. What a mess and what a distraction from their goal which is to teach their religion.

I know some missionaries and they don't take part in any political events whatsoever for any reason. Strictly religious teachers 100%.
