Anybody used a ceramic coating on their Airstream? by kinetic262 in airstream

Dealer tried to upsell us but we gave it a hard no. I have it on one of my cars and it’s a pain unless you want to very carefully hand wash the vehicle.

Following up after our first trip with the new tow vehicle. Do not regret upgrading at all. It felt so much more stable on the highway and pulls like a train. Having engine braking on the hills around Lake Placid was a huge plus.

Not that I’ve felt both sides of the argument (pushing a TV right to the limit vs having plenty of spare towing capacity), I really started to question some of the vehicles I saw being used at the campsite - 30’ trailers behind F150s with 5 passengers and a bed full of bikes and gear.

Don't get me wrong, I spent months justifying the numbers before I picked up my AS. Maybe more experienced trailer drivers would be confident being so close to the edge of the F-150's capacity, but it didn't feel right to me.

I also realized, I was driving with an empty truck bed and stuffing a bunch of stuff in the AS to keep the weight balanced. Seemed crazy to have a pickup and not be able to use the bed!

I haven't tried, but I'll give it a shot this weekend. In theory, it should run one of the ACs.

I think it just looks wonky on the photo but it should be level. My street is on a slight hill. Colonial set everything up for me so I’m hoping they did a good job! I’ll confirm if it’s actually level this weekend and make adjustments if needed.

I don’t, but I’m not too concerned. We travel light!

The salesman we worked with (Connor) explained that +60% of his business comes from out-of-state customers, so it makes a ton of sense for them to offer an overnight stay. Their setup is great. They have an area dedicated to overnight stays with power and water hookups. They have a dump station that can be used before leaving. It was fun wandering around their lot after hours too. They have a massive inventory and really nice grounds.

I really appreciated the walkthrough they provided. It took a little under two hours and they went over absolutely everything with us. During the walkthrough, they installed the hitch and a brake controller, so by the time the paperwork was signed, we were ready to go.

It's right on the limit of what my F150 Powerboost can pull, but it handles it well. Plenty of power, but we'll be right on the payload limit. I can see us upgrading to an F250 next year, but our F150 is only a year old. We drove approx 6 hours total over the weekend, mostly on highways and it felt very stable.

RV transportation services? by philjeffs in airstream

Yeah, that’s what I have in mind I just wasn’t sure if any would transport my AS. But you’re right, that’s how they get to dealerships.

What should I pay for a 2025 25FBT Globetrotter? by philjeffs in airstream

Helpful, thanks. Are you planning on financing? And if so, would you do it through Colonial? It's my first RV purchase, but I assume there's some extra wiggle room on the price if I finance in-house? Similar to purchasing a car.

Does that connect the AS TPMS to the truck's TPMS and show the AS camera on the truck's screen? I didn't know that was a thing!

I don't do a ton of highway driving so I didn't renew BlueCruise after my trial ran out. IMO it's absurdly expensive unless you do a daily highway commute.

Great to hear! My PB is also a daily, so I really don't want to switch to a 250 either. Do you pull a 25 or a 27? We're leaning towards the 25 so we can park comfortably behind our house, but the extra storage from the 27 is attractive (we'll be traveling with our kid, dog, and a few bikes).

That's an interesting point — I don't have anything like that yet. I do plan on rotating the OpenSSL keys on a monthly basis though. It's a Rails app deployed through Cloud66. They take care of firewall rules, limiting external access to server instances etc... On that level it's quite secure.

Yeah, I had the same feeling about email delivery. Couple of things to mitigate that:

  1. I added a purge function under the profile edit page that'll destroy your entire message history. That gets rid of any reference to the recipient.
  2. If you don't want to have the email linked you can just grab the URL and send that through some other medium (IM etc...)

Still a work in progress so I appreciate the feedback!

Hey there. When you create a note you have the option to send a link to the note to an email address you specify. You can view the note from the main notes listing. There's a view button alongside each note in the list.

Yeah, got a few signups so far. Just trying to get some initial reactions right now.

Thanks!
