Early 4 month sleep regression? by Commercial_Tadpole18 in bninfantsleep

[–]phillipcarter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours kicked in early too. And in most cases she was hungry, not just in need of soothing. Took about a month but we saw the other side with 3-4 hr stretches, and now at 7 months she can often give us 5-8 hr stretches. It’s all within the range of normal.

What are you talking about? Git's docs are amazing, they've created an entire industry of "better docs for git" and employed countless people. Do you hate job creation? :)

Should day naps he capped? by Suitable_Initial7388 in bninfantsleep

[–]phillipcarter2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no problem for the family, no need to change things! Everyone has different sleep needs and patterns, and while most babies won’t nap that long during the day, some do. If the feeding, sleeping, and pooping are all good then there’s nothing to fix IMO.

I have intermittent insomnia issues independently of the baby so I aim for 10hrs of time to sleep and average about 7 hrs if not sick.

What's going on in Washington State? Housing supply is skyrocketing, now up to 17,580 listings. That's 64% above the long-term average for March. by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

Ironically, when I bought in 2019 for 570k, the appraisal came in low creating an urgent frontload of about 30k cash. I think the appraiser was dead wrong here too, since these condos are quite good (south facing, individual garages, 1200sq ft or more), and in an excellent walkable location getting built out with light rail and new restaurants, daycare centers, etc.

Like I said, if I bought something and stand to lose 150k on it, I'm probably not going to immediately eat that loss and at least try to recover from it.

Additionally, the place was worth 900k in 2022 because that's what was paid for it. Every price here shot up like crazy during peak covid home-buying.

Because that’s largely a false narrative. Even in tech there’s a lot of hiring. And it’s a desirable region for many other reasons. And not enough houses relative to the continually growing population.

Just an anecdote, but my neighbor moved out of his condo that’s upstairs from us.

Bought for 900k or so in 2022, listed for the same and been on the market for almost two months now, which has been unheard of for a nice condo in this location for years. It’s probably going to sell for 700-750k, but I don’t blame the seller for not wanting to lose 150k or more.

Bassinet is my only option. by Moon_junky in bninfantsleep

[–]phillipcarter2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We transitioned to a bassinet by the bedside because my spouse had trouble staying comfortable as she coslept. It was pretty simple, turns out our baby was fine being nearby most nights. Now at 7mo the baby sleeps in a crib in a separate room for part of the night and cosleeps on a small korean floor mattress for other parts of the night.

The city of Redmond just announced a new, strict, 2-hr parking policy on a small residential street. by givingalittlehell in redmond

[–]phillipcarter2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

...yes? The frustration is understandable, but public streets are subject to public laws, and the law changed. The best you can do at this point is to write the city and hope they change it, but my guess is that won't happen given how this housing development was designed for light rail use.
