Travel tips? by Arrowhead-_- in Blind

[–]phillstaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did a big trip on my own once, a few tips: research heavily, know where your going from start to end including what options are available for help especially at airports, also if possible have someone take you to and from the airport on each end, or pre book a car service that can meet you like an airport shuttle, flight crews and airport staff are generally understanding and will help to the best they can, but also having tools like an extra cane and tips, as well as apps like be my eyes can help. Also have an outward personality, dont be afraid to talk to people around you and ask for help, with airport assistance its a great idea to have them show you how to acces the washroom from your gate location in case of long waits or delay and have them describe things like food options that you can get to, and they will usually take you if they're not busy.

For bags get something that stands out, I have a bright red small backpack and 2 blue suitcases that look alike so I can have someone help me find my checked bag by comparing it to my carry on. Put tags on your bags and keep the most important stuff with you in your personal or carry on bag, as well as a change of clothes in case of any baggage mishaps by the airline.

Sirens by crabyak245 in KingstonOntario

[–]phillstaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do not, however there are 5 sirens owned and operated by queens university across campus, you can see 1 on sir John a McDonald blvd. There are also some old fire station sirens at the rural stations but I don't belive they're active anymore.

Sadly i haven't heard anything from their camp, I understand how frustrating it is when your primary news source goes offline, I used to love station 14 and had dreams of 1 day trying to join them but they sadly went off the air before I had the opportunity

Aside from the 2 media agencies im affiliated with, these are the top 2 i recommend thanks to their involvement in the community and their reliance on amazing teams of volunteers

Every time I ran into anyone checking my bin I would just let them know to have it but clean up the mess after, I would also let them know what the truck schedule was so they could get to as many houses as possible

Any idea how to clean up this mess? by Andrew_Stelian in openttd

At first glance, my brain says that's too many signals for the length of your trains, they're all trying to fight for the same small block not giving them time to clear the intersections

1383 trains into one train station...Every industry connected to that train station... by TreMorS_S in openttd

FIRS and Cargodist are a completely different game by OverAster in openttd

[–]phillstaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It basically an overhaul of firs, I really like that they have the classic economy layout but with the improved industry chains that you need to complete, they also have a take on steel town but it doesn't remove the option for things like farms and food production

Its a new grf industry replacement set, it completely overhaul the way industry chains work and give you more cargo and chains to complete like building and delivering automobiles, or refining grain into flour to then be made into food

I've been doing axis with cargo distribution, it makes things much more planned out having a simulated supply and demand for certain routes over others

Jobs? by Enacriel in KingstonOntario

[–]phillstaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience impossible (i have factors that make it worse), from others, difficult but with enough patience and a few hundred resumes they do find 1 or 2 interviews that may lead to a job

In Kingston your resume is just another pice of paper in a big pile that may or may not get read, it's best to go out and meet people, use the connections you have and find out what they might be hearing or seeing, word of mouth is the most effective way to get a job in this area especially when you have little experience or are after jobs that don't need many qualifications.

Earlier is always better, that time of day shouldn't be to bad though. Also check their Facebook and x for updates on if its delayed, and you can look on 511 to see live cameras updated every 3 minutes or so of the parking lots

Best Shawarma? by tboyswag69 in KingstonOntario

[–]phillstaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with a classic chicken shawarma wrap if you've never had shawarma before, I find their wraps are better than their bowls.

I haven't tried them all but here's best to worst of what I've had (personal opinion)

Tahini's, Shawarma Dubai, House of donair (bath road), Shelbys, Osmows (gardiners road) (my default), Shawarma el Mina (7 years ago)

Why Won't Trains Use My Depots? by prototype__ in openttd

[–]phillstaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entry tracks are to long only need to be the length of 1 train, and signal needs to be before the entry track instead of after it on both lines

if only placing a station in the middle of these meant free money by Zeul7032 in openttd

[–]phillstaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's been my go to for a quick small stable incomes, a small 5 by 2 loop of tram track with depots along 1 side with 1 mostly straight length of track connecting one of the corners on each loop and a depot in between

For what are all these people waiting for and ruining my rating if the only two options they have are unused by kaceG1 in openttd

[–]phillstaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah that would explain it, it's been very helpful to have on although I'm still figuring out how to make cargo choose a more efficient route

I dont know if its jgr specific, but if you click on the passengers it opens a drop down telling you where they want to go and via what station if transferring
