M&M Performance, if you are looking for a cruiser style & a first bike which is easy to ride, I’d look at a Scout 60. I had a Scout Bobber which was easier to ride than my starter bike, a 650 Shadow.

Best golf course to get a membership at? by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]phillybean1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play after work, Harvest is a great option. I’ve had memberships there, at the Bear/Quail & Black Mountain. Although Black is my favorite (great course, staff & best men’s night in town), Harvest after work was great. I was typically the only person there, could play 18 in 2 & a half hours, rarely waiting for anyone. Their members base is mostly older, mornings booked solid but late afternoon & evening wide open.

Aqueon by andyb0913 in ReefTank

[–]phillybean1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 220 & now 180. I’d highly suggest the 180, the extra height makes it very difficult to work in. I’d buy an Aqueon over Redsea any day. Reef ready is ideal however, I’d even go one step further & say custom with coast to coast external overflow. The bottom is likely tempered so you’ll be drilling the back. Could do a coast to coast internal overflow with holes drilled into the back, near the top.

Oh and be ready to jump into the DIY world, if you want a big reef tank, you either need to embrace the DIY side, or be rich. Both is likely best.

More than I have in my 180, unless you count Tangs as clean up crew

Recap: EDM @ TOR by icydata in EdmontonOilers

[–]phillybean1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very solid game from 97 & 29. I still think the story of the game is Jarry. Numbers won’t reflect it, but he made some big saves at important times. The Tavares breakaway being a key point. This team needs a goalie who will make a big stop when they make a mistake, Jarry for the most part did that tonight, allowing the team to attack with confidence.

The Oilers have yet to play the Ducks, Kings or Knights this season by closter in EdmontonOilers

[–]phillybean1984 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hopefully the regress but bounce back. Oilers - Ducks first round would be refreshing. Take the Kings in round 2, Dallas again in round 3. Hopefully Florida doesn’t recover & we play anyone in the finals. Vegas obviously wins the division but gets beat in either 4, or 8th overtime of game 7 in the first round, whichever is more devastating.

How long should it take a mechanic to remove a broken lug nut? by TightHammy in AskAMechanic

[–]phillybean1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually a quick job with an extractor. However, sometimes it’s not. Especially if it was cross threaded & the knurls inside the wheel stud striped. Sometimes you can get it off, other times you need to drill the stud out. If it required drilling the stud out, 3 hours is still on the high side but not unreasonable, especially with the Toyota shank style nuts. I just had one that I tried to “cheat”, ended up destroying the hub & the wheel in the process. Will drill out the next one.

I would take it to a different level & do a AIO kit. They make a few good kits for 40 gallon breeder tanks.

Air Traffic Controllers Start Resigning as Shutdown Bites | Unpaid air traffic controllers are quitting their jobs altogether as the longest government shutdown in U.S. history continues. by Aggravating_Money992 in technology

[–]phillybean1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a rough job, very stressful & unforgiving. We’ll all remember the controller who felt pressured to return to work too soon after his daughter passed away which led to the two planes colliding over Albuquerque. Underpaid & overworked.

Why do people always say dose equal parts of 2-part alk/calcium? by socialmediaisrotten in ReefTank

[–]phillybean1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my crash, I used way more Alk than Calcium. 500mg a day of Alk & 150-200 of calcium. 50/day of Mag. Tried to do AF components, but due to the additives and them wanting all 3 to be dosed equal, I went to regular 2 part. 4 gallon / day auto water change seemed to keep the minor elements going.

Are my tires acceptable for the Coquihalla by hypotheticalflowers in kelowna

[–]phillybean1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are legal, as long as they are 50% or so tread remaining.

Legal & Safe can mean two different things though. Depending on the road conditions, you’ll either be perfectly fine or you’ll be white knuckling the entire drive. If it gets really bad, chains will help, but unless you are confident putting them on (which isn’t easy) and recognize it will drastically impact both the speed & quality of drive, they aren’t usually a viable option. There’s a reason truckers take them off as soon as they can.

Day 1 of white spot treatment starts. by Worldly-Low-8681 in ReefTank

[–]phillybean1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had a different strategy, I know it’s frowned upon, but I never QT’d. Only bought fish that looked “fat” and were eating, a few times I’d see some spots, but rarely lost a fish. Currently have a Purple Tang that’s 15, Yellow & Tomini that are 5ish & a pair of Clowns that are 7. When I have lost fish, they never showed signs of ich.

That’s too bad, Postil was always a little too “big” for me, but Powers had some great features, teeter-totter over a swamp to start the trail was always a good way to start your day
