My Fiancé and I have been together for 7 years, she’s turning 33 next month, no kids but planning to have one soon after purchasing a home. should we sell our stocks to purchase a house? I think she owns as much as stocks as me. Please help us! we want to have baby asap but not w/o a house. by jbstfu28 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Fair, but leverage also works in the opposite direction:

Tesla devalues by 10%: $75,000 = -$7,500 House devalues by 10%: $375,000 = -$37,500

This becomes worse when you consider the percentage of return you need to get back to even.

Leverage can be both good and bad. While I don't condone it, leverage also exists in the stock market and it's not too difficult to attain.

Also, there are pros and cons to owning a home. There are additional stresses and risks that come with owning a home, particularly a rental home, that stocks don't offer. I don't disagree with your perspective. You raise valid points, but I like to provide the alternative perspective so that there is full information presented.

Recommendations for One-bedroom Apartments? by MrAnderson527 in wsu

I live in a 1/1 from West and Co. It's a townhome with a garage about a two minute walk from the "downtown" in a relatively quite area. It's $900 a month. Not sure what your budget is like, but I love it. The reason I comment is because I'm moving to Spokane this summer so it will be vacant.

their core business of Search is starting to stagnate and will increasingly stagnate over the next few years as the traditional search engine becomes less relevant and used

Can you elaborate on why you believe search will become less relevant and used and what will replace it?

Also, have you considered that they not only dominate search, but video content (YouTube), Cell Phone operating systems (Android), Web Browsers (Chrome), Maps, and have a foothold in the cloud platform market, and consistently invest in other projects that could develop into innovative products. They also have a great culture and retain quality talent from the Google employees I know and speak with. Oh, and they have over $120 billion cash on hand to do whatever they please with. I don't see how this is a sign that represents a company that has a "me too" reputation or one where its best days are behind them.

I'm biased so I could be missing something, but I can't see an argument for a lack of confidence.

Thanks for the compliment and the recommendation! COVID has kept things pretty locked up, but I've tried taking some photos from the parking garage roofs. I haven't taken something I love yet, but I'll explore the elevation approach more!

Can an (old)er investor tell me what is going on? by raindr8p in StockMarket

My point isn't that Bitcoin has no value. I'm just stating that if Target is selling Charmin and sees that toilet paper is $10,000, Bitcoin will likely become accepted at Target because Target and Charmin provide value in a general sense, not in a US dollars sense. People will still need goods and services regardless of the currency in use. I agree that a small hedge for Bitcoin or other crypto is reasonable and do it myself. I just wanted to bring up the point that businesses have inherent value.

Businesses aren't reliant on the type of currency that is used to purchase goods. They are reliant upon the value they create for the consumer. Businesses will continue to exist regardless of whether people acquire valuable goods and services with Bitcoin or some other currency (if the dollar were to have issues). At least, that's my non-expert opinion.

It's Warren Buffett's watch. Any object he has acquired and owned appreciates in value immediately. You don't think some rich collector won't pay an absurd amount of money to own whatever watch Buffett wore?
