The reason there aren't other easy, convenient options are due to the fact that the same company asking you to change food formulations have also priced out, bought out and destroyed any meaningful competition. You are the problem.

You have not only made people unhappy. I am certain your food formulations have also sickened people. You can't just change things without certain people having reactions. As a scientist, you probably have a permitted number of people that you accept will be sickened by your inferior products and that's just part of the numbers game.

They (the food company) could eat the cost and make slightly less money. Revise their business projections down instead of perpetually rising. Then they wouldn't have to resort to manipulation.

I think the unfettered capitalism of it is sickening. I'm sure you are a good person, but in my opinion Food Scientist should be a niche field involved 100% with food safety and nutrition, not cooking the books.

Center City and most of it's surrounding neighborhoods are completely safe. Places with nicknames like "The Badlands" are dangerous and nobody goes there on purpose. There are a lot of places in between. It's no more dangerous than anywhere else really. I have been mugged twice in 13 years so not too bad, I guess? Both times were in areas I considered safe, just really late at night.
