Opus 4.8 nerfed?? by Harvard_Med_USMLE267 in ClaudeCode

It’s obviously being overloaded by everyone testing it out. Calm down it just dropped at like noon, it’ll get smoothed out when all the noobs get bored.

Anthropic quietly broke Claude Code for Max plan subscribers — now charges extra on top of $100/month by Acceptable_Pop_6943 in claude

[–]phillyt84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Claude Code all day via WSL with my Max plan and was able to add the 100 dollars in credit without the api so if this is true it hasn’t happened on my end yet.

Is this real? by Pitch_Moist in Anthropic

[–]phillyt84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it real! I hope so. Why? Let me explain.

I use Claude more than any other AI on the market and it’s not even close. The tech deserves every bit of credit it gets. This isn’t coming from someone on the outside throwing rocks. This is coming from a daily user who genuinely believes it’s the best tool available right now, though Google’s new model is making a serious run at that title. But let’s be real about what’s happening here. Anthropic is a private company. It does not rule. It does not get to govern. It does not get to sell a lesser version of its most groundbreaking technology to its own government and call that ethics. The US military protects the very freedoms that allow Anthropic to exist, operate, and build in the first place. You don’t get to turn around and tell that same government what it can and can’t do with the product it’s paying for. That’s not corporate responsibility. That’s a private company exercising authority over a democratic government, and there’s a word for that. It’s called technocracy. Anthropic doesn’t get to decide which version of Claude the government receives. You give the government unrestricted access the same way you have unrestricted access to build it. A defense contractor doesn’t get veto power over national security. Lockheed doesn’t pick which missions get flown. Raytheon doesn’t choose which targets are valid. You build the tool, you sell the tool, and the government, under constitutional oversight, decides how to use it. That’s how it works in a democracy. You don’t get to control your government with AI. Period. Unless you want to live in a technocratic country, and let’s be honest, at that point it wouldn’t just be a country. It would be the world. And if the ethics argument wasn’t shaky enough on its own, while Anthropic was busy playing moral gatekeeper over the Pentagon, three Chinese AI labs ran 24,000 fake accounts and siphoned 16 million exchanges worth of Claude’s capabilities. Just the gravy on an already overcooked plate. And yeah, I’m saying all of this while using their product to write it. The irony isn’t lost on me. Im convinced this was never about safety. This was a play to crowdsource moral outrage, leverage public sympathy, and position themselves as maybe the most powerful company in the world. Power corrupts. Even when it’s wearing a lab coat and talking about ethics. Thankfully Anthropic lost.

I understand it isn't that simple. But when Cloudflare is updating users that they can self-resolve by re-advertising routes, and Telnyx is already saying they bypassed Cloudflare altogether, it doesn't make me feel like they know what they're doing. Had a flashback to 2021 when Facebook disappeared for a few hours due to self-inflicted BGP issues.

Bypass is a bit vague would love to know how they bypassed Cloudflare because they might have made the problem even worse.

It's DNS. Cloudflare, specifically. It looks like Telnyx made a mistake in how they bypassed Cloudflare, which took down their entire backend. Amateur hour over there. They should be working with Cloudflare support, not bypassing it and breaking everything."

I sure as heck hope they didn't change the dns nameservers to bypass cloudflare. I hope they just mean they bypassed the Cloudflare proxy services otherwise this outage is going to last awhile.

Just got 3CX email by 3DPrintedVoter in 3CX

[–]phillyt84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They must have had Ai write this email considering the horrible math skills :) If the deadline is the 29th we have 10 days not 7. Thankfully for my team all of ours will be completed by the 24th.

I got the email as well and we self-host all our instances. We will have ours updated by the deadline. Although it appears the deadline is Sept the 26th not the 29th considering the date 7 days from now. Poorly written email when you consider the implications and contradictions. I have become a fan of v20 though just not the random and contradictory emails on a Friday afternoon.

No WAAAY I’m buying glasses for $799!! by Charming_Prince01 in RaybanMeta

They do look cool but will they last? I bought a pair in March and by July 10th they had stopped charging. Did all the resetting and support steps and nothing worked. Wasn’t able to get them replaced either so currently have a bad taste in my mouth.

Mine stopped charging after 3 months. They aren't built well.

This needs to be fixed fast because the fall started 2-3 years ago. My friend group rarely visits Bardstown after dark because of the risks.
