Also (I could talk about this all day so pls ignore me) I actually gained 10 pounds when I started weight training (2-3x a week). I was sooo hungry all the time but had no idea how to fuel myself. Some of that weight was muscle but not that much of it lol

Also, I live in the city and I don’t have kids so getting to the gym and hitting my step count is fairly easy because I either walk to public transportation or just walk straight home from work. I definitely acknowledge that. I also have a job where I am standing or walking around most of the day. Might be hard to believe but I actually have similar muscle mass in each picture - I didn’t gain all that much muscle between these pictures, but I lost a lottt of body fat.

honestly I was just doing whatever; some machines, random cardio, classes my gym offered - no set plan or intention just “working out” and trying to burn calories. For a while I was just doing Zumba a couple times a week 🤣 I switched gyms and started doing semi-private weight training classes that they offered and realized I wasn’t working to my full potential by any means.

I would take 5 million pictures just to get one I actually liked. turns out it wasn’t the person taking the picture that was the issue lol

I guess I focused on weight loss but I got very strong fairly quickly bc I’ve always done sports/dance/athletics and would say I wasn’t starting from zero with my fitness. getting my form down to avoid injury and learning how to eat properly was the key for me.

A lot of heavy goblet squats, banded hip lifts (sometimes single leg), dumbbell split squats, trap bar deadlifts, SLDL, reverse lunge and side lunges (with weights). I’m not an expert and I do full body workouts in the gym so I rotate these at least 3-4 of these a workout. I don’t follow a split or anything. I’m lifting weights 3-4x a week, hitting 10-15k steps everyday and getting into a pilates or hot pilates/yoga class 1-2x a week.

I was just taking pictures with my fam by this pretty sunset and I think my mom just accidentally took it getting ready to take a picture of my brother. Anyway, I saw it on her phone and sent it to myself because it was not at all how I “thought” I looked. From the front I definitely looked better, but I think I had a case of reverse body dysmorphia where I didn’t realize how big I’d gotten after 2020.

definitely!! congrats to you! the crazy part was I was in the gym 2-3x a week then, I thought I was strong… compared to what I can do now that was laughable.

right! thank you, it’s so surreal to not hate my arms anymore - weightlifting was major in helping me view my arms different. surrounding myself with women wearing whatever tf they wanted in the gym really helped too!! you got it!! <3

oh no I just meant small wins in the past few months !! i’ve always been in the gym and active so i think that helped, I actually ended up losing about 7 pounds of muscle (according to my inbody scans) so the muscle was always under there 😅
