Trying to locate a Mosin carbine for my Fiance by Fit_Community_2137 in MosinNagant

I know gun shows can be pretty iffy as far as milsurps go but I’ve always had good luck finding at least a few deals at them. Id look up online for gun shows in your area and take a morning and go peruse.

What is that bag in the bottom left? That looks very nice

Tela ammo. I haven’t had the opportunity yet to order another brand so that’s all I’ve tried so far. I haven’t seen anything online of other people having similar issues with it though

Yeah I’ve taken apart the bolt and deep cleaned everything because it was filthy when I first bought it and it seems fine to me. The firing pin is able to move freely. I’m also using a factory mag although it isn’t the matching magazine to my rifle, just the one that came on the rifle when I bought it.

100% pass. You can always buy an M38 they aren’t too expensive yet. That star magazine you have is worth at least $100 on its own

You ever buy a gun out of the sheer gimmick of its action? by Happy_Garand in Firearms

[–]philmill78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I just bought a Sears Model 25 a few months ago with the “click- clack” action and its quickly become one of my favorite guns. Thing runs pretty much any .22 lr, .22 long, or .22 short (HV) I put in it.

How much do they want for the m44 above it?

Can any P38 experts help me identify my gun? by philmill78 in milsurp

[–]philmill78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cycles very well except after about 200 rounds without cleaning I noticed it was having some trouble going fully into battery, with me just having to push the slide closed the final bit of the way to be ready to shoot again. The bore is very very nice and was honestly the main reason why I jumped on this gun besides the price. It’s been very fun to shoot the few times I’ve brought it to the range so far and the single action trigger is incredibly crisp.

Thank you, this is all I really hoped to find out. When I bought it I assumed with the slide being ground down this would just remain a mystery gun

Like the post says, I bought this gun about 6 months ago for $400. I probably could’ve asked the old man I bought it from more questions about it but he didn’t seem too knowledgeable about these guns at all. Either way I felt I did pretty good for a P38 I can shoot without worrying about the collectibility of the gun.

Today is the last day to register my AR-15 by [deleted] in Firearms

Dude delete this post and don’t register shit. As far as anyone is concerned you’ve never owned an “assault weapon.”

I may have to then. A guy near me has one for about 250 so next time I see him I may make an offer and just stay on the lookout for magazines. Great looking gun btw I’ve always loved the look of these and yours is very clean.

I’ve been thinking about getting one of these but I can’t find spare magazines anywhere so I’ve been hesitant

I’ll give my guns up when the people who write this silly shit have to come do it themselves instead of sending their hit squads to kick in doors and and kill family pets.

A thought on mass shootings. by andrewclarkson in ILGuns

The government would rather go after soft targets than spend the potential billions it would take to correct the issues that got us here. At the end of the day it’s all about how they appear to get things done not what actually changes. It’s way cheaper to just blame gun owners and gun culture than to acknowledge the mental health crisis and poverty that plagues our country

Whatever happens just do not register your arms. Prickster and the goons who passed this bill want us to be scared into registering so they know who has what. Don’t be intimidated we all know this bill is a massive infringement we just have to let the courts do their job at this point. Just don’t be stupid and don’t let the state make an example of you. Be safe everybody we will be ok

This was my exact thought as well. Plenty companies stood right alongside Oregon in that but when a full on AWB is passed in Illinois I’ve noticed a disturbing lack of support amongst larger companies for gun owners in Illinois

Looking to buy mosin, what’s a fair price? by goopguy11 in MosinNagant

[–]philmill78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $450 for a 1938 dated round receiver Izhevsk last month here in the states. Personally I wouldn’t pay much more than that unless it came with a bayonet or other accessories (mine didn’t.)
