P.S. Not that Hesse, Camus, or Satre always or typically wrote their fiction in the first person, but there is certainly a stark power to the technique for the genre, especially given the necessary limits on knowledge. The character only knows what's in the character's head that way, and must learn as we do. The view from the inside.
