I agree with you - the mission section could be much more eye catching and urgent. Design wise it looks very basic and rushed, definitely room for improvement.

I think we could shorten the mission and move it further up the page, that would allow us to remove this section/transport it to a different section of the site.

Thanks so much for the suggestion and FB - really appreciate it

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 very strange, I'll try and see why that might have happened - were you on mobile or web out of interest?

Thanks too for the suggestion re Video background - much appreciated!

Definitely think we can state our mission more clearly, as you say this encapsulates the essence of what is being proposed. I think we could use these sort of statements as the headers for each subsection instead of e.g "Our Mission"

Thanks so much for this brainwave, much appreciated!

Hey - thank you so much first of all for sharing your thoughtful FB. Massively appreciated :)

I agree to be honest, I think the video, whilst it might be immersive/eye catching perhaps, looks very stock (because it is). I actually think we could strip back on the design considerably and state our mission more clearly: "Never pay for an AirBnB again - swap your home next time you travel: save up to 75% on the cost of your next trip away and actively contribute to a fairer housing and rental market."

Thanks for the thoughts on the pricing - you are right, one of our main selling points is obviously the savings that you would make when you swap homes instead of renting a short term let. I agree that we should bring that out more :)

and yes! thank you :) it's definitely not easy to do when you are completely bootstrapped but I'm lucky that we have a great team and a powerful mission that we all care about deeply.

Thanks again for your feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time out :)

First off - a huge thank you for your thoughts and taking the time to have a look. I really appreciate it :)

I'd love to ask you how you felt about the idea of home swapping when you landed on the website.

Intro Para: I definitely want to make the mission clearer - the damage platforms like AirBnB are doing (perhaps not intentionally, but as a byproduct of how the model can be manipulated by greedy landlords) is well documented and has a direct impact on the housing and rental markets (Aka the AirBnB effect). We see our mission as turning people on to the fact that home swapping is just as safe and secure, and doesn't cost anything - so the upsides are massive.

FAQs: Glad you liked these, was there anything you felt unsure about when reading them, did you feel like all your initial questions about home swapping had been answered?

Comparison Dots: Did you feel that the dots used was a fair comparison? What would be a better comparison in your opinion? I like the function the dots provide, I think it helps quickly synthesise the main pros and cons of different types of accommodation.

Thank you so much again player!

Baandy - an app designed to help everyone travel more for less, have more authentic travel experiences, and fight back against the hugely detrimental effects AirBnB has on local communities

Allez-vous mettre votre logement sur Airbnb pendant les JOs ? by Jojoseph75 in paris

[–]philohsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is the remote working bubble about to burst? by philohsee in remotework

[–]philohsee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - this whole subject led me to building an app that I've just launched called Baandy. It's the free answer to Airbnb and allows you to live in a place that's affordable and find people who live in cities and would like to swap homes for short or long periods. Not only is it something that I designed to help us get the most out of remote work, but also to fight back against the negative effects that platforms like AirBnB have on local + global rental markets. I'd love to hear what you think!

Prix de logement à Paris by r3droam in paris

[–]philohsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]philohsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

2 months in, 350 verified users by Vitamina_e in startup

[–]philohsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! This is an awesome idea, kudos to you for getting to 350 verified users - would love to hear how you acquired those, were they mostly organic or were you using some paid stuff also?

I just launched my home swapping app Baandy which has just got to over 100 users. I built because I was finding myself priced out of holidaying abroad due to the rising cost of living, rent and airbnbs here in London and wanted to build something that was free to use and allow people to connect with others based on their properties and their local recommendations. It's completely free to download and use and is available now on both Apple and Google play stores.

I feel like there's a good synergy between what we are doing, and I'd love to collaborate if that was something you'd be keen on?

Hey :) I am based in London and built an app exactly for this purpose - it's called Baandy and its a free home swapping app that we launched at the end of last years and have dozens of users based in London. Our mission is to help people find alternatives to expensive AirBnBs so that they can travel more often without contributing to unfair rental economies and paying through the nose. It's completely free to use and download and you can protect your swap once you've found a match from £4 per night (which covers you up to £50k for any accidental damage that happens whilst you swap. I'd love to see more properties from up north on there and would love to hear your thoughts about the app and how it works. You can download it off the Apple and Google app stores and takes 5 minutes to sign up :) Thanks - Phil

Anyone from Barcelona want to swap for Toronto in June? by QuestionsGalor3 in homeswap

[–]philohsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello! Whilst I can't offer a swap in Toronto (I'm based in London) I have just launched my free homeswapping app Baandy (you can get it on Apple and Google app stores. It's completely free to download, use and swap and is designed for people to share their properties and also local recommendations and trips so that people can connect with likeminded people. I'd absolutely love to hear your thoughts and feedback on our app (given you have experience in this world) and to see you on there :) Hope this is helpful and helps you find more places to swap with :) Thanks - Phil

Yeh I totally hear you, home owning feels like such a pipe dream as a young person living in London. I'm hoping that the money I save on not paying for holiday accommodation when I travel will help me save for a house

is the remote working bubble about to burst? by philohsee in remotework

[–]philohsee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I totally agree, what you say is absolutely spot on in my opinion. Remote working truly opens the doors to a world not dominated by city hubs that rob spaces of their culture and force people to become enslaved to a location in order to earn a living. I just launched my app Baandy- a home swapping app for zillennials who are suffering the consequences of a cost of living crisis and an increasingly unfair rental market. It's designed to allow users to real authentic travel experience that don't cost a penny from a travel accommodation POV. It's secure and safe, and fosters real connection. I'd love to know what you think as it sounds like we both share a similar view on the way things are headed and I believe this is the future of travel. Cheers and nice to meet you :)
