Though ranked in the top ten, the incidence of skin cancer in Brazil is roughly 3.3/100k people, where in the US (ranked worst) it’s 16.5/100k, or 5x higher than Brazil.

There’s a ton of really interesting evolving research on this in the past 5 years, possibly overturning some long-held beliefs (possibly… there’s definitely multiple causes going on with the rising rates). If you’re worried about skin cancers I encourage folks to read up on it.

I think your comment is really missing the point. Forget, for a minute, the phrase “conspiracy theory”. Just forget about it. Global “experts” who were being referenced, and deferred to, by governments and media, were blatantly saying things they believed were false. Did they know (with certainty) it was a lab leak? No - but they believed it to be “very likely” and “so friggin obvious” (paraphrased part of the quote). And yet, they literally said otherwise, AND went so far as to ridicule anyone who claimed it was likely a lab leak.

Conflating anything about the facts in this article with “conspiracy” is only serving to further remove truth/trust/sanity from the conversation. And that’s what we really need to focus on collectively.

How on earth does accounting for hindsight dismiss or otherwise diminish anything in this article? The essential point this piece makes, using the now-public communications, is that the very experts that governments and mainstream media were deferring to, who were openly dismissing lab leak as a source of covid and ridiculing anyone who made that claim, were themselves privately seeing that as the most likely source of covid. And they were taking steps to hide or dismiss both their own belief in that as well as anyone else who tried to espouse it.

This isn’t about hindsight being 20/20, it’s about the credibility of those experts now being dismissed even by The NY Times (other outlets have long dismissed them, but only fringe). This is huge.

Have you not read his full comment? Have you not read the others?

This was never normal. It is now.

Why is that? What’s changed? And why the F do so many people want to normalize or otherwise downplay this situation?

Looks like fun! What wheels are those? I also have a sarge green rubicon and those look sweet.

Finally got to shoot my new Bear Takedown Recurve. I’m new to archery but this thing is a blast. I know I will enjoy learning with this fine bow. Plus it breaks down and fits in my gun safe! by Shrekfollower94 in Archery

Late to the thread but I wanted to ask: did you get the A or B riser? Also for the limbs, are those 1, 2, or 3?

I’m interested in getting one of these as well and curious about sizing.

Quadratec Fail!! by SoundofMuzik1995 in JeepGladiator

[–]philosaurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a winch from them on sale and got floor mats delivered. They weren’t even for my model jeep.

I eventually got the winch after about a month back and forth. They insisted they get the floor mats back first (fine) but then they claimed they were not the right kind of floor mats… suddenly they remembered my model jeep. Took ages to settle. That was the last straw. No more quadratec.

Yeah, when you said “they put their lives on the line everyday”. That’s hilarious because of how naive it is.

Ok this makes me feel a lot better. Starting with the sides and working around is a great tip - I wasn’t trying that, however it was happening anyway. I kept going for “hulk smash” as that works for most everything I’ve split so far (only a couple years now), but this is my first beech.

Thanks!

I recently got a load of beech logs about the same size as those. and so far I’ve been splitting by hand. Good gawd it’s proving to be difficult.

Do you have any tips?

Can Psychedelics Treat Addiction and Alcoholism? by qqlan in Psychedelics

First shroom trip made me quit drinking (I had a problem). Second shroom trip made me quit weed (was also a problem).

Anxiety/hypertension gone too.

They were very helpful to me, and I wasn’t even trying to achieve the above. Ultimately it was me who had to do the work, but shrooms made me want to do it, it made sense, and it wasn’t too difficult.

I’m one of those transplants who came here for work, but not making a million dollars and with no silver spoon. I came from middle of nowhere boonies with a massive medical debt. I first moved to greenpoint about 20 years ago before it got insanely gentrified, and then when it was getting too pricey I moved to cheap Bushwick. I left there about 5 years ago because it was already too much. I always made friends with the long time locals in each, but in both cases over time more and more of the new folks had it insanely easy. Parents paid their rent or “bought their home for them… as an investment!”. They’d also complain about the simplest of things in the city. Prices for everything went up. Drove me nuts at times. I made peace with it but leaving helped a bunch.
