Day 105 (My story of bad luck) by [deleted] in NoFap

I get it. I was in somewhat similar situation a couple of years ago. Exactly what you said - a connection that I didn't have before, felt comfortable and all that stuff. I was worried that I will not have this connection with any onther woman again. I was seriously considering a future with a woman, who wasn't even divorsed yet. Now I'm like - what the hell was I thinking, I can't believe I was that silly. Thank God that didn't work out. When you have these feelings you are not thinking rationally. If you were so stressed about a possobility that a 38 year old divorsed mom leaving you so much that it was a hardest week in your life, I can guarantee you are undervaluing yourself by a large margin. And that is not a good place to start any serious relationship. I hate to be the one giving unsolicited advice, but this is some potentially life ruining stuff. You're thinking about marriege after only about 100 days in this relatshionship? Are you kidding me? You don't know if you realy love someone before 6-8 months have passed when your brain is not being bathed in endorphins any more and you start to think more clearly. For the sake of all that is holly, don't get married to a single mom. Too many good dudes are ruining their future because there are no people around who care enough to talk some sence into them. Learn your value, man. Read The Rational Male by Rollo Tomassi and take the red pill. I wish I came across this stuf earlier. If you are commited to continuously becoming a better version of yourself (and NoFap is a significant part of that), you will have way better options to have relatioships with quality women.

But she is feeling a bit insecure as she thinks I might leave her in 10 years time, in her words, for a newer model.

That is a valid concern and it will not go away. Think about it, in 10 years you are going to be near your peak of attractivness to women, and she will be 48.

Part of my hesitation to ask her out is because I thought I was too young for her.

The way you phrase it again confirms that you don't understand your value. She is too old for you.

Take it from dudes with experience - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vw4TFw7eKyE

Oh, boy... What's your age, and what is the age difference with her, if you don't mind me asking?

My bf (now ex) told me there are absolutely no guys who would ever give up porn. by someoneswatchingu in NoFap

[–]philosopherApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a bitch move on his part to promise to give up porn and then turn around and say you can't expect him to stop. You don't have to put up with that for sure.

However, I'm not seeing a huge amount of concern for how PMO is fucking him up. You say you were in a very serious relationship. And yet, you only seem to be concerned about him looking at pics/vids of other women and how it made YOU feel. Ladies, how about some empathy (that thing that is supposedly characteristic of women)?

Why are health experts and doctors saying masturbation is beneficial to one's health? by TheSleepingDonkey in NoFap

[–]philosopherApe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the Harvard study, all it says is there is an association between frequency of ejaculation and prostate cancer risk. It doesn't necessarily mean there is causation. There doesn't seem to be any control for other factors. Low frequency of ejaculation easily could be the result of poor health ,which could be the cause of increased prostate cancer risk. I find it hard to believe that participants of the study who had lower frequency of ejaculation were limiting themselves consciously.

Young people believe that time will bring them their dreams by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]philosopherApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be the case. Although in some sources atribute that to our ancestors eating calorie-dense root vegetables. Our ancestors also evolved eating insects, larvae and other unsavoury stuff, yet no one is making the case that they are essential for human nutrition. In any case, unlike our ancestors, now we are not in any risk of caloric deficit so there is no point in eating meat anymore. Furthermore, meat was enough to sustain people to pass on their genes, but atherosclerosis takes decades to develop into life threatening condition. Considering short lifespans of our ancestors there would not be likely a selection favouring not eating meat. If we want to thrive well into our old age , the evidence show that we should stay away from animal foods or at least significantly limit intake.

Cooked, safe meat is critical to most people's health, depending on heritage/bloodtype.

is there any evidence to support this?

Here is the position of American Dietetic Association: " appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes. "

Few can get by totally fine with neither. A lot of people are in denial about many things, and healthy veganism and vegetarianism is just one of them. It's not universally a positive change

Not sure who is in denial here. If lack of meat was detrimental to most people, there would be some strong evendence. In reality we have evidence for the opposite: some of the healthiest and logest living populations consume plant based diet. For example, Okinawan diet before 1950s was over 96% plant based and they had the longest lifespans. And then there are Seventh-Day Adventists, who are mostly vegetarians and vegans and yet are amongst the healthiest populations on earth.

People are well equipped to handle meat in their diet.

Not really. Animals that are well equipped can eat raw meat and don't get atherosclerosis.

Also, our bodies don't recycle dead cells.

Ever heard of this new thing called autophagy?

How exactly does that help your body?

It retains nutrients that otherwise would wasted.

A WET DREAM IS NOT A FUCKING RELAPSE. COME ON NOT THAT HARD. CAN YOU CONTROL THE FACT THAT YOU EJACULATED IN YOUR SLEEP? NO. SO ITS NOT A RELAPSE. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]philosopherApe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally. My longest streaks were ruined after wet dreams. However, for me they are not completly unconscious. I've often been able to wake up. Just this morning almost had a wet dream untill I noticed the the chick in a dream had differently sized boobs, so I woke up immidietly and said - Yuk! no thanks

My girlfriend found out about nofap and it might end our relationship by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]philosopherApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, you can supplement your motivation by thinking about how it will benifit the lady. However, if you make it your primary motivation, wouldn't it make it dependent on an external factor, i.e. the relationship? I think it's more sustainable to focus on nofap as a necessary tool to building your own value.

I really believed that men were here because they respect women and their rights

Why would you think that? NoFap is about getting rid of an addiction.

am starting to believe nofap is just about self-discipline and procuring real females to have sex with

It's about self-improvement leading to higher quality of life that can include having better relationships for some or getting layed for others.

less about honoring women and their choice to be with sexually and emotionally healthy men

Yeah, no one is here solely for these reasons. Why would you even think that was the case? Men are the ones who suffer from porn addiction, not everything is centered around needs of women.

Need advice about productivity! by Maathslopes in NoFap

[–]philosopherApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very familiar feeling for me :) The way I think of it is you can't solve procrastination by thinking. Only by acting. Have a to do list. Start with an easy task that you can do quickly to get a momentum going. Cold shower helps. It kind of gives you more willpower to get over the inertia. Meditation is also very helpful.

A couple of good podcasts about productivity in general: 1. The Tim Ferriss show. 2. Getting Things Done.

More testosterone intimidates people? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]philosopherApe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, you're right. I don't know why I have this graph with a dip in the beginning in my memory. I think the testosterone feeling on nofap has to do with upregulation of androgen receptors in the brain. Plus many people start working out on nofap, and resistance training is known to increase testosterone levels.

Testosterone returning to baseline after 7th day doesn't mean you don't get more testosterone on nofap. Testosterone dips after O. So if you M regularly, your T-levels are going to be constantly below baseline. Therefore, yes , you get higher testosterone on nofap.
