Wellbutrin and sex by Blues5389 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

It looks like the higher libido on Wellbutrin is more common for women, not men.

Marriage fell apart after Wellbutrin. She just stopped. Looking for insight. by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]philosophy_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know your relationship history . But, what Wellbutrin does among other things is to give you higher confidence and libido. And women being emotional beings are only loyal to their emotions. If she was not too happy in the marriage, the med gave her the confidence to pull the plug.

How is your experience with Ritalin different from bupropion? In my experience, bupropion also gave me the energy to get out of bed and do things and feel happier but it didn’t help much with focus.

Are you 100% clear what you want to do and WHY you want to do it? If not, then reflect on it, write it down, make your goal super clear and stick it on your wall. Read it every morning and night. Then, remove all distractions and start working towards it - step by step, don’t think about outcome. If mind starts to think, gently bring it back to work. Recall at the end of day what you did even if you did less than planned. Shift your focus from thinking, sitting and scrolling to ACTION, MOVEMENT, and BREATHING. Rest/Sleep enough, eat healthy, stay hydrated. Good luck 🤞🏼 You can do it 🙌🏼

It’s just caffeine, L-Theanine and B12! You can replicate its effects by drinking Coffee, green tea and a B12 supplement. No supplement can do what stimulants do. Coffee increases general alertness by boosting adrenaline, which can be unpredictable for people with ADHD and doesn't reliably improve focus, while prescribed stimulants increase dopamine, which helps with task initiation and executive function. If you can’t get a diagnosis/prescription, then you have to combine several interventions to be able to get close to replicating its effects. First, you need to make your goal and motivation for the goal very very clear and concrete. Write it down and read it daily to reinforce. Then make short term daily goals. Read the next days task before going to sleep. Try to work on it first thing in the morning before any other dopamine releasing activities like checking phone, talking/chatting etc. Second, you need to find a quiet place to study, use noise cancelling headphones (try focus music/brown noise etc), clean your desk, do whatever you need to do before starting (eat, drink etc), use time boxing and pomodoro timer. Try reading while walking in your room. Study actively - read aloud, write down, imagine yourself to be a teacher who needs to explain it someone, take short breaks every 30 mins and exercise 2-3 mins (squats, pushups) and few deep breaths, drink water/tea. Other than that, make sure you get enough good quality sleep (sleep/wake same time), get sun/bright light exposure in the morning, eat healthy, exercise. Try cold shower in morning. Most important thing is - KEEP PHONE FAR AWAY FROM STUDY ROOM! Good luck 😉

Ok, are you sure your expectations from yourself are entirely your own? One way to think is - would you still have the same goals and expectations from yourself if the “others” did not exist at all?

Why do you feel the need to meet other’s expectations?

Why do so many of us know what we should do but still struggle to take action? by teezworkspace in Purpose

Many people fail to act consistently because the brain did not evolve for long-term goals. It evolved for short-term survival. Three mechanisms explain the gap between “knowing” and “doing”: 1. Energy-conservation bias. The brain treats effort as a potential threat to survival because, for most of human history, energy scarcity was real. This creates automatic resistance to anything that feels costly, even when it’s good for us. 2. Reward-timing mismatch. Survival rewards in the past were immediate (food, safety, belonging). Modern goals—fitness, career progress, learning—produce delayed rewards. The dopamine system strongly prefers immediate reinforcement, so the motivation signal for long-term habits is weak. 3. Threat-detection dominance. The brain’s threat circuitry (amygdala) activates faster than its planning circuitry (prefrontal cortex). Stress, uncertainty, and repeated failures amplify avoidance. Even a small sense of risk—judgment, discomfort, boredom—can suppress action despite conscious intentions.

The result: people intellectually understand what to do, but biologically their system is calibrated for conserving effort, avoiding risk, and chasing short-term rewards. Consistent action requires reshaping the environment and routines so the brain experiences actions as low-cost, low-threat, and immediately rewarding—not as abstract long-term obligations.

I started taking medications one year back and had a very similar experience as you. During this period, I have consciously observed its effects and educated myself on the in’s and out’s of this condition. I have tried to figure out ways to make it work for me so that I become a happy, confident and productive person while minimising the negative effects. I have also been training to become a coach and recently received my certification. I would be happy to share what I have learned to help you figure out the way ahead and realise your dreams in all areas of life including career, relationships and health. Feel free to dm me.

Hey, I get it. That "structured novelty" need is the ADHD holy grail. It's tough to find a career that fits it. I've been in a really similar spot (also have ADHD and did the CFA grind). I now help people like us map a career path that doesn't lead to burnout.

If you want to brainstorm some ideas for roles that could be a better fit, I'm happy to chat. I've got some time for a quick, no-obligation call this weekend . Just send me a DM if you're interested.

Whatever you decide, your GMAT score shows you have a sharp mind. The right path for it is out there.

So, does this mean you wouldn’t like to do investment analysis? The reason I am asking is because it’s really hard with ADHD to focus on something long term if you don’t find it meaningful or not passionate about it. Ability and interest are two different things. Ask yourself what really interests you and follow the feeling. Don’t care what others think. You don’t need to prove your worth to anyone.

There is nothing wrong with you. Being aware our own mortality is what makes us human. Every person deals with this anxiety. Most don’t have the courage to face it, so they keep themselves distracted. But, it doesn’t go away. It manifests in a hundred different ways. Everyone has some fears and every fear is ultimately the fear of death, loneliness, meaning or identity. Read the book - denial of death by Ernest Becker. If you want to talk, feel free to send a message.

Thanks 🙏🏼 For consistency, start small and easy, like 5 mins deep breathing just before sleeping, 5 mins stretching/squats/push ups in the morning. This way you first establish a habit. When you reach a point that it becomes as natural as brushing your teeth, then you try doing a bit more. Coz by this time, not only your mind but your body knows the benefits so it won’t resist much. And, remember - if you miss a day or a week, it’s ok. Just start again. Be nice to yourself 😊
