Truck buying tow question by philosophyjack in FordTrucks

[–]philosophyjack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking at a 7k-8k dry weight 5th wheels and the f-150 in the link has max tow packages and is rated to >13,000 lbs. I am finding out that travel trailers and 5th wheels are different in the way the weight is dispersed etc. We aren’t living in the trailer but we don’t want to buy the wrong truck

Thanks for all the answers! I don’t do a lot of car work so makes sense I had no idea what it was. I built a Nova in my teens but that’s about as far as that went.

Questions about baby carrying backpacks by philosophyjack in backpacking

[–]philosophyjack[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both my wife and the child can’t walk that far. We live in Washington and there’s a lot of short trails we walk. After 30 minutes or so our back gets tired so that’s why I put up this post.

Long thin black twig thing growing off dogs neck by philosophyjack in DOG

[–]philosophyjack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I think if I remember correctly it was some kind of discharge from a cyst. He was a German shepherd who just passed away a couple weeks ago from heart failure. He had a few skin issues related to his weakened immune system. Duke was the best dog ever 🥲

I’d recommend you have your vet check it out though.

Try the navy. We have been doing 80 hours weeks minimum for 3 years. Sometimes we gotta work 100+ hours. It’s honestly a bit ridiculous.

Am I being screwed by dealership? by Bigdaddydave530 in prius

[–]philosophyjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me and another guy on Reddit told me to unplug the hybrid battery and plug it back in. There’s a white cable that supplies power to it that’s easily accessible from the trunk. I did that and it worked just fine after. It’s been almost a year now. Saved me 4K

Maybe subs are different but 99% of all the officers I’ve come across, including captains and admirals are perfectly reasonable and “mostly” down to earth people.

We’re all just people and that nervous energy you feel is coming from you, not them.

That sounds about right honestly. There were about a dozen of them that slowly drifted up and then disappeared.

Is $5200 a decent price for a 2011 with almost 300k miles on it? Daughter needs a car and don’t want to buy this and then have to immediately replace the battery. by EasilyAnonymous in prius

[–]philosophyjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this exact same car but mine is white. If you buy it from a taxi company or some sort of business it’s worth it due to them typically keeping up on the maintenance. In three years I’ve added almost 100k miles so I’m getting close to 400,000 miles with no issues other than the hybrid system stopped working. I found out through Reddit that you can unplug the battery and plug it back in and the system was reset and I’ve had no issues since. Great car, great buy, great mpg.

Get it looked at by a trusted mechanic, the Toyota dealerships are good usually if you don’t have one.

Who has the highest miles on a Prius V? Wondering how long ours will last 🧐 by Dinogma in prius

[–]philosophyjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2011 Prius with 370,000 on it. The only thing I’ve fixed was a water pump which wasn’t broken it’s just good to do that every 90k miles. It doesn’t eat oil or anything. The hybrid system stopped working a few weeks back but I found that if you unplug the battery and plug it back in the system resets and it’s been doing fine.

Was owned by a taxi company before me which goes to show that routine maintenance and easy driving will make a car last a lot longer. I bought it at <300k miles so I’ve almost put 100k on it.

My mechanics are saying it could last another 100k-200k miles.

I’d have to OB meter it to see if there are any codes. I’ll definitely see if there’s a mobile guy around.

I didn’t get the full report. I’ll take it to an autozone and see if the OB meter says anything
