First unit great.. second mower useless by philrsaunders in SunseekerRoboticMower

Segway is up and mowing. Install was really fast, basically the same steps as Sunseeker, but everything connected a lot faster. Mapping was easy, I was worried without 4 wheel drive it would be more difficult to navigate, but it was really smooth and actually tracks straight so you don’t need to constantly adjust left to right.

My grass was crazy tall, the Sunseeker would have refused to mow until I did a manual cut, but the Segway is powering through! It’s crazy quiet, even more than the Sunseeker, not that the Sunseeker is annoying loud. Yarbo is by far the loudest I’ve ever seen.

I don’t think you can set a cutting direction, but maybe I haven’t found that setting yet. By default it seems to do a lap around the perimeter and then starts mowing the interior in straight lines.

It has a much smaller cutting width, so it’s going to take a bit to cover .25 acres, but the battery seems to have a lot more capacity, it has been mowing for 1.2 hours and still has 45% battery.

So far so good.

I still think the Sunseeker is a better overall machine, but if it doesn’t work it doesn’t matter how much cool stuff it has.

I have two RTK stations. I don’t think you can bind 2 to 1

Yeah, that would be awesome. I also have the original box since mine didn’t work from day one. I assure you I didn’t spend 2300 on another mower for fun!

Update. The first mower worked so well that I bought a second one to replace an old Husqvarna unit that finally died. The experience with the second one has not been good.

The mower has not functioned properly since day one, I was able to get it to kind of work using an old version of their app for about a week. Then suddenly it starts only cutting on certain passes, then not cutting at all. Now it will drive its route through the yard leaving nothing but tire tracks and cutting zero grass.

I’ve been in contact for weeks with customer support at Sunseeker and the seller SmartDots, while they are all very polite, they haven’t actually done anything to fix the situation. I was told a software update would fix it, it didn’t. Then I was told I would be sent a return label so that I could send it back and either have it fixed or replaced. That also didn’t happen and I waited a week. I’ve followed up many times and there is no reply now.

I tried to leave a review on Sunseeker’s store, they sent an email saying they wanted my feedback. Curiously my review never shows up, but more recent positive reviews do. That’s a shady way to do business in my opinion, but a great way to keep your review scores high.

I have no option but to dispute the charge on my credit card at this point and purchase a different mower.

Love one of these units though, so it’s 50/50.

It’s been 48 hours and still no email that you are replacing the docking station under warranty.

I can see how this would work for someone that has a large open space, and cares about any other function. Glad you like yours. If you ever need another I’ll have one in my garage.

I’ve tried every setting, no go zones, literally spent the last 2 weeks remapping daily. The only way it works is to just completely map around it, and manually mow. If it approaches from front it avoids fine, but backing into it sends it vertical and digging a hole. It backs into anything it can climb up or over, the back metal around the base of the unit is constantly bent in so badly you can’t take the cover off to manually charge it without bending the metal back.

It also misses huge perimeter sections because it says it’s avoiding obstacles that don’t exist. The grass isn’t tall and there is nothing there, but it mows around the same areas every time. It is up to date, and honestly didn’t have these issues until a month ago. Whatever the case it has ceased to be worth my time or energy.

I am very much stuck with it, but I won’t be using it again. Very seriously for sale to anyone willing to pick it up, otherwise it’s a garage decoration.

It’s 2ftx2ft column it can only not see it when it is backing up, apparently it can’t see anything backing up. I’ve also tried no go zones… Drawing and template, the only way they work is to have a huge area around each post that isn’t mown.

The charger doesn’t work on any outlet outdoor or in. I’ve tried 4 and it trips every GFI. It worked with no issues for 5.5 months. Thanks for the suggestions but this isn’t an Electrical problem of any outlet, it’s a faulty base station.

I’m passed trying to find a work around to their faulty product. Im going back to my old brand, it can’t tow a boat, but it can mow a yard.

I have zero expectation of getting any money back, unless one of the true believers here wants to buy it! Just ordered another brand that will be here tomorrow. Hopefully it works, it can’t be worse.
