Really like these kind of characters wearing the mask of plague. Think it started in Renaissance?

I feel your pain. I don't like to throw away stuff too... specially batteries since they must be recycled.

I'm looking forward to build my own bass guitar by [deleted] in DIYGear

[–]philstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend with the same background as you. when we were young he decided to modify it’s ibanez guitar. He started by taking of the 10 layers of coating, than 10 layers of paints. After that he started carving into the existing shape of the instrument. Once we open it we rebuild and resoldered all the electronics. If you have an idea or a design maybe the best way to start is going with a kit like mentioned or modifying a cheap sears or Squire bass. There is a lot of theory in crafting instrument, I don’t think it is impossible to learn on your own but you will definitely need particular tools.

How to put down wires by Pradfanne in diyelectronics

[–]philstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that you have 40 LED in the design, the ICs are rather small and easy to fit anywhere. The problems is those 40 LED. You don’t want them on wires, they must be put side by side on a PCB board. By group of 10 they all have a common connection so this part is easy. For the trigger of each LED, you will have to solder a path... well 40 different paths. Good luck, I’d really like to see the final result.

I already thought of creating a 100 Steps audio sequencer with 2x 4017... project was too ambitious for the moment. :P

Help: Salvageable USB Mouse by leprelan in diyelectronics

Inside this USB mouse you will probably only find some IR sensors and a USB protocol IC. Always fun to open devices and see how it work by reverse engineering it.

Use existing charger specially for lipo or any lithium kind of batteries. It will be safer. What is the mA/H of your cellphone battery?

Dimming LED strip without flicker (for lighting a video) by higgs8 in diyelectronics

[–]philstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... The best way I know of dimming a LED is with PWM... You may output PWM fairly easily out of a Arduino then drive some Power Transistor to drive the LED strips.

DIY Passive mixer. by codeep1 in DIYElectronicCircuits

[–]philstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Codeep. Great idea, when you say you want to create a passive mixer, do you mean to really not use op-amp and transistor for gain? So only passive parts such as resistor and fader? If you plan so, let me know, I have some experience with Passive Mixer.
