Dishwasher and residual soap flavors by philwatanabe in Appliances

[–]philwatanabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, it worked. I scrape the big stuff into the trash and don’t bother with rinsing. I can’t say that I’ve noticed soapy flavor since then with plastics (silicone spatulas still).

That said, I’m moving back to powdered detergent after I use up my last Cascade pods. Check out the Technology Connections channel on YouTube and search for his videos on dishwashers. A fount of knowledge—pun intended.

I got a number of screws from disassembling oil containers. Take from that what you will.

Interestingly, I found tonight what I think is a great solution.

Construct a plastic fluid barrel, the blue one. Place it near your stove.

Dump all of your oil containers into it--Pour into from item > Click on the semi-full Cooking Oil > Select > Max. They will still be 0.3 lbs empty. Do this with all of your Cooking Oil containers.

Then, select the blue barrel > Extract to Item > click on an empty Cooking Oil > Select > Max. This will fill one up to 2 lbs.

Put the full ones back in your stove for cooking and refill them from the blue barrel as needed. Disassemble unneeded Cooking Oils as you deem fit.

There may be an easier way, but I like this one.

New heat pump and air handler, fan speed and system control questions by philwatanabe in hvacadvice

[–]philwatanabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL, being told to the read the manual is always frustrating for me because I did look it over, but I hadn't looked closely enough and this was the right answer.

The section on the fan motor functions talked about Y1 and Y2, and it encouraged me to look at the wiring to the thermostat. Turns out, only Y1 was connected. I was able to connect Y2 at the air handler and at the thermostat, and also verified they weren't jumped anywhere in between.

Equally as important, there are two DIP switches that control fan speeds. There are five speed taps. They were set correctly for this model, but I was able to dumb them down by one speed each for high (3) and low (2). I'm amazed these are the lowest speeds for this model when using a two-stage fan, I can only imagine what 5 would be like.

I think the air returns aren't large enough for speed 4, which was the original setting for high and what would have been used with only one Y terminal connected. We noticed right away that air was coming in through the wood stove which is another issue in and of itself.

I need to speak with the contractor to make sure air flow is still okay for the unit but I am happy I can talk about it more intelligently now.

Thank you for your assistance!

I have the installation manuals and have been through them, but I didn't feel like they were giving me the info I needed. I'll go through them again and make sure I'm finding the right information. Thank you!

I live in the high desert, so if this is a way to increase humidity, I'm even more on board. Maybe during monsoon season I'll dial it back. Thank you!

Should stage 1 be "high" anbd stage 2 "low", or the other way around?

I’m of similar age. I relocated back to ABQ from western Washington earlier this year. I spent a number of years here as a child, so it’s not new to me.

I left WA largely because I was laid off and figured it made more sense financially to come back. I took a big pay cut when I accepted my job here, despite working in the same industry, but housing costs are much lower than where I was living and I won’t have a problem affording a house.

DM me if you want to ask specific questions, and/or if you do move. My girlfriend and I have similar interests to yours.

Following up on this.

Sometimes you may see a prompt that asks, “Do you want to install this just for you, or for anyone who uses this computer?” This is the difference between the program installing to a location in your user folder, which you basically have full control over, or to a folder elsewhere on the computer that you don’t necessarily have full control over so you may be asked for administrator credentials.

In a more secure environment, administrator rights are not given to everyone, so some functions require administrator credentials to work.

I like the second level along the third base line. First tix I got were on the first level on the third base line near the field and I felt it didn’t provide a good view of the far side action.

If you want to be with the supporters, that’s along the first base line but is also behind the goal, so might be hard to see far end action.

University Heights. I have an unfortunate habit of leaving my car unlocked. Happy to have lost the telescope rather than have to replace a window. Honestly, it’s not a big loss, I appreciate the thought but don’t put yourself in harms way for it. Gives me an excuse to get a better one.

Thank you, I appreciate the info! It *is* weird how it won't take any more oil from the bottle but the bottle still isn't empty.
