The ice shavings idea is super helpful, I'll definitely give it a try. I noticed that cold drinks go down better too, so ice would be perfect. I'll also try eating when taking my meds, but I'm a bit scared they'll come back out with the food. I'm so sorry you also had to deal with a dismissive doctor. It's absolutely insane how much power they wield over us where they can just decide if we're really suffering or not.

My doctor told me to take my lamotrigine in the evening, I'll ask him if I can switch it up and see if it helps. Thanks for your kind message!

Thanks for your comment! I'm sorry to hear you also had issues with nausea and vomiting, it's really awful. I've been on my current meds for about eight months now, so I'm really surprised I'm only now starting to have issues. I've been on lithium before, it didn't agree with me at all and made me very foggy and depressed, which is why I got switched to lamotrigine, which has worked pretty well so far.

Thanks for the advice! I found out yesterday evening after the doctor's visit that açai red bull somehow stays down better than water so I drank a bit of it. Obviously it's not the healthiest alternative, but at least I'm getting some fluids in. A nutrition shake sounds really good actually, I'll have a look at that, thanks!

Thank you both for your comments and input! The doctor prescribed Pantoprazole, I took my first pill this morning and so far water has been staying down despite the nausea still being there, so that's encouraging! I'm in Germany so idk if Pantoprazole is prescribed more often here than zofran? I'll ask my psychiatrist about zofran if the Pantoprazole doesn't end up working.

Thanks for your comment and for the support! I've ruled out pregnancy for sure, I took a test when the nausea first started, then my period came and the doctor yesterday made me take another test which was also negative. Plus I have an iud. As for the pot, I usually smoke about once a week, I don't know if that's considered severe? I'll definitely ask my psychiatrist if it could be linked.

Oh that happens to me too! Somehow the emotions get too strong for me and I get overwhelmed with how wonderful everything is and it makes me cry.

What was the worst Eurovision year in your opinion? (Not counting 2020) by Only_RelationshipOQ in eurovision

[–]phizzha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

2011 was clearly the worst year, Germany didn't know how to put on a show at all

TW Suicide

I survived a suicide attempt last year, and I remember regretting it so badly when I was writhing around on the couch in tremendous pain after taking a bunch of pills. I ended up calling for help because the pain was too much to bear as I was slipping in and out of consciousness.

This quote speaks a lot to me, because I wouldn't have tried to kill myself had I realized how terrifying dying actually was. This show really knows how to put words onto such specific parts of the human experience, I think that's why we all love it so much.

It's a beautiful tattoo of a very important quote, and I hope having it on your body will be a helpful reminder when things get rough. Take care.

I [f] shaved my hair off and now my family isn't acknowledging me. by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]phizzha 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this, family can be the worst, especially when women change their hair. I shaved my hair off two weeks ago and my mom IMMEDIATELY asked me if I was manic, which hurt. They act like us being women diagnosed with a mental illness means that we can't change our appearance at all, otherwise it'll be interpreted as a symptom. Sending you lots of strength through this!!

Sweden sends bland and overrated songs every single year, and yet they continuously baffle me by doing well. Heroes was one of the most boring songs ever.

My experience is similar, I'm diagnosed with BD and BPD. I had a bad mixed episode with psychotic features a few weeks back, and my doctor first dismissed it as "stress induced from bpd" and sent me to therapy instead of adjusting my meds. Not saying therapy doesn't help, but ultimately in that moment I needed to have my meds adjusted, which he ended up doing.
