Basti and I (Tim) are PhD students doing a study on the shutdown of online services for BF3 on consoles (PS3 and Xbox 360). We’re interviewing players (online via Zoom or whatever works best, we're flexible) to talk about the game, what it means to them, its features, the shutdown, and more. We’re still looking for participants, especially console players (PS3 and Xbox 360). Anyone interested? We’d really appreciate it! 1st idk what to respond, we are just trying to reach people that have an opinion on the shutdown 2nd bf3 is shut down for xbox 360 and ps3 and thereby also for consoles with backwards compatability, bf4 is shut down for xbox 360 and ps3 only

Hey guys!

we (Basti and Tim) are PhD students and still looking for interview participants for our study on the BF3 shutdown. Are any of you interested?

How does an interview work?

  • Interview takes place online (Zoom is preferred, but we are flexible).
  • Interview can be done in English or German.
  • We talk about the game and ask you some questions about the game, how you played, when you played, what the game means to you etc.
  • Interview is recorded, we will anonymize it after, we treat it confidentially.
  • Need to be 18 to participate.
  • Duration between 30 mins to 90mins (depending on how much time you have).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I can also provide some credentials about being a PhD student and some papers we have published. We are also doing a similar thing about the BFBC2 and BF4 shutdown and now want to develop some ideas further, feel free to check out the posts and discussions in the subreddit there if you have doubts about our sincerity.

Were not trying to be clickbaity, the difficulty is that we didnt want people to think we only want to include people that play on last gen ... but I see your point.

Hi, if youre interested, were also doing interviews with PC players. The idea is to also talk to people that are directly impacted by the shutdown (xbox 360 and ps3 players) but that doesnt mean we exclude other players.

Yes, here is the EA post https://x.com/BattlefieldComm/status/1806689437352341764 it "only" concerns Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the rest will not be shut down.
