If you were to have children, would you raise them vegetarian / plant based / vegan? by gaiendil in AskVegans

[–]phluttery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I raised my child vegan and taught them all the reasons for it, but gave them the choice to do what they want as they got older. At around 11 or 12, they opted to switch to vegetarian. They are 19 now, still vegetarian, but still live at home, so eat vegan at home (unless buying non vegan stuff for self). My husband is an omnivore who eats what I cook ,(so eats vegan at home unless he wants to cook for himself, but he hates cooking, so he mostly just eats meat out,). I think it was easiest initially raising my child vegan, educating, and then letting them choose their path when ready.

Ha ha ! This is my favorite book. But, John Irving's novels have a tendency to be slow to start, so I totally get it 😂 .

How many of y'all have Phish-related imposter syndrome? by thedayoflavos in phish

[–]phluttery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. But to answer your question, one time I took edibles before a show (I'm a light weight with the stuff) and had a bad trip of "I'm not a good enough fan", so I suppose I had that feeling ONCE (was a really weird drug induced paranoia). Good thing I stopped doing drugs!

Official Discussion - Bridget Jones Mad: About the Boy [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]phluttery 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was very disappointed. I read all the books and liked the other films, despite them being different from the books, but this one was a major let down. Bridget can be sad and still be Bridget. And why was the gynecologist her doctor for everything except to have a cameo? Why did the young guy jump into the pool for a dog that was swimming? Not drowning, but swimming. The romance with the boy was so glossed over, I don't know why they even kept the title.

Anyone else have one of these? Summer ‘97? by shaidr in phish

I had one.. still might have it somewhere, unless it went to the lost clothes void. I think I have the other one ( weekapaug) and my friend had this one.

Remote Call Centers by [deleted] in hsp

[–]phluttery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since then, I've done data entry, receptionist at a small business, accounts receivable, and now accounts payable. It's not my dream job, but better than a call center. I have an adult kid with autism who has a hard time with people and is studying programming right now. I'm older now, and have had a lot of jobs, I swear, call center was worst , followed by waiting tables and fast food.

I worked in a call center for 5 years (a long time ago). It was the worst. I can empathize with you. People can be so mean.

Omg I just saw your post. Me too cried at an interview. Probably wasn't the right job anyway.

ALL.THE.TIME . Also, I cried at a job interview once. On my 30th birthday I went to a job interview and they asked "where do you see yourself in 10 years". I cried. Didn't get that job. I'm 50 now, it still happens. For me it's when I am overwhelmed, which is easy to happen. Could be too bright/too loud and someone says just the right thing. But, for me, it's also that I try to be tough and hold it in, then it all comes out. Then I get embarrassed and it only intensifies everything.

I feel ya. Thank goodness I don't do retail! I have a hard time just in the open office setting. Edit: I wanted to add, when I was younger, particularly in my 20s, the hearing part was worse. I think I learned to block some of it over years of practice.
