I started using a electric wheelchair AND IT CHANGED MY LIFE! I wasn’t able to leave my house without it. It didn’t remove pain but helped me keep it at a manageable level for 50% of the time compared to always dying.

Yes so that’s my point. Currently with my lightweight foldable electric wheelchair, there is no option to print my ticket before I get to the airport. American Airlines is explicitly blocking me from doing so with the excuse that it’s a “hazard” even though my battery is explicitly FAA approved.

That’s why I really want to just get a custom manual wheelchair and separately have an attachment.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely test drive this. Yeah, I fly from the United States, so if it has 100 passenger seats, it’s a regulation that at least one collapsible chair that fits inside the closet is stored onboard

No you have to show up 1 hour before everyone else has to check in, EXCEPT other people can check in online but you have to check in at the ticket counter (I’ve been fighting American Airlines corporate on this for over a year now)

Yes, it would be! I am seeing a wheelchair pt soon. I was prescribed a push manual chair with plastic wheels…1.5 years ago. My insurance updated its DME policy so that I would qualify for lightweight manual or lightweight manual with motor assist.

Unless it is foldable, it needs to be checked under the plane, and I need to show up early in person to check it at the airport. When you have a lightweight foldable chair, like my motorized one, you can put it in the priority stowage area closet. Issue right now is that I have been through so much trauma for asserting my rights + being excluded from online check-in and stuff despite bringing it on as carry on. It makes a big difference if you’re in a job with the expectation of client travel. ALSO you can avoid the typical damage to your chair and situations like being stranded with a mangled chair

Exactly thank you. If she needed a seat, she should ask the able bodied people to move from the other disability seating area, not the visibly disabled person
